AFI is one hell of a band. A band that has gone through more evolutions than literally any band out there. Thats a good thing. Creating, destroying, rebuilding. Starting from the underground in the hardcore punk/hardcore scene..into the cross pollination of goth hybrid punk to the now lighter alternative sound they are today. Thank you AFI for all the hard work you've done. Please continue to evolve and never sound the same.

Let me just say that AFI is amazing. Saw them two days ago in Norfolk and it was the best show ever in terms of energy and unity. Davey actually got into the crowd and it all felt very old school. I saw Tool about two weeks prior, which is like a Catholic meeting the Pope or Jesus himself, and AFI definitely killed me in similar fashion. I'm about the same age as these guys, and have been listening to them since high school - '96. No, the newer stuff doesn't sound like the old stuff, but they've been at it for 20+ years, and to expect endless replication is ignorant. Evolution can be good, and none of their stuff is bad.

For the idiots debating religion on this page, An upside down cross doesn't immediately mean satanism. People mistake an inverted cross as a perversion of the normal cross, but it isn't. Do your research. It's the Cross of St. Peter. THE POPE HIMSELF has an inverted cross on his throne. St. Peter, the first Pope, was martyred by crucifixion. He did not believe himself worthy to die in the same way Jesus did, and instead, the cross was inverted. In this song, he is (most likely) making a corollary between his pain and being crucified. Gosh, some people are so ignorant.

But after a year of leaving my narcissisticly abusive exand reading the lyrics word for word while listening I can understand and feel the raw pain and emotion behind it. Because I did give my heart to the cruel and they intoxicated with someone new meaning they rebound. I wad angry at one point that I hoped they suffer badly but after angry crying and because 0f my huge heart I hoped they find help 😭😭 I even cried when I heard it live and a couple next to me was nice enough to give me a hug

clearly you haven't listened to Death of Seasons from Sing The Sorrow. Or their second album Very Proud of Ya. Haven't listened to Blaqk Audio either by the sounds of things. (PS: Don't lump every fan who is from DU onwards in the same group- I myself became a fan during the DU era- I spent the following 3 years getting the then all 7 full length albums (not easy living in the UK without the ability to shop online at that point))

***** dude, in Sing the Sorrow on their track Death of Seasons, they changed the in-booklet lyrics to "this hate is _scucking_ real" to get around censorship.

I hope no body takes this as an insult or anything but I can see where Imagine Dragons took some inspiration from. This is a great song and ahead of its time at least for AFI. I love when a band evolves. They tapped into a great unique sound with Sing the Sorrow and Decemberunderground. Not sure why I've never seen these guys or 30 Seconds to Mars. Two really good bands from that time.

So we know AFI is a diverse band especially with Davey and his lyrics, he stated before he doesn't have a real meaning behinds his sings because he doesn't want to limit his fans, but does anyone know what he was going through to have him write such a cold album? He stated on a interview with spotify that he has his own meaning behind it but doesn't want to reveal it as why stated above but I'm just curious. Excellent album been a fan since 2000. TOBWAO
