Actually, it is easier to take off the canister without a screwdriver. When you look down at the base on which the canister latches on, at 5 and 11 o'clock positions, you can find a pair of little bump. Turn the clips onto the bumps and they are opened. So just turn and lift the canister.

thanks , this helped my problem. I couldn't figure out how to get that canister off..Your video helped.. got it off and soaked the gasket and canister in C.L.R. and no more leaking.
