State of origin never has or never will work in the AFL. It’s simple, you blokes never played hard enough for your states, the players and supporters thus never invested. It’s not like the AFL didn’t want state of origin. You blokes treated it like a scratch match. Absolutely incomparable to the level and heart shown in the NRL state of origin.

To think we had it first and we reformed the league representative format to the state of origin concept. There just wasnt and still isnt enough talent in nsw and qld to have their own SoO teams. Bear in mind it was massive until the afl era where national glory is more lucrative than winning 1 game for your state and not be the overall champion.

I think you're wrong when saying that. AFL draws players from every state and territory unlike NRL. It could be done. It may not be as good as NRL.....but it would still be good.

It'd be pretty kool, we rarely get rep footy games and the ones that we do get are usually charity games end or start of season. Or they are retired players, not serious.

NRL fans seem to have a massive chip on their shoulder when it comes to the AFL. They always talk crap about it (gayfl, aerial ping-pong, seagulls fighting over a chip, etc.) but AFL fans rarely say anything negative about the NRL. I think it's jealousy because AFL is superior in terms of ratings, crowds and overall popularity in Australia, whereas NRL is only big in NSW and Queensland. NRL is a great sport.....but I honestly don't see the point in the whole "code-wars" thing. Honestly, WHO CARES? It's like the Melbourne VS Sydney thing. Sydney people bag Melbourne....but Melbourne people don't bag Sydney, people in Melbourne don't care.

To be 100% honest with you, as a Victorian I rarely hear anybody in my day-to-day life bag the NRL.....nor do I hear people here constantly bag Sydney. However people from Sydney and Queensland always bag Melbourne and "gayfl".

There's also that a bunch of the great Queensland players were Melbourne Storm players including Slater, Cameron Smith, Greg Inglis and Cooper Cronk. Slater is also a Hawthorn fan as far as AFL goes.
