Don't know why West Coast just don't offer Graham 1.2m a year so Richmond get band 1 comp and then give less for Baker. I know technically not within the rules but stuff like this happens all the time

3 and 13 for Warner at least. Plus Warner will want Freo in the end.
@spindoctor638512 сағат бұрын
Isn't there some rule that stops a pick coming back to the team that just traded it? I could be way off, but I thought I heard that North in some hypothetical, could end up with the pick that they traded out last year, and that this didn't break the rule because it was in a seperate year, suggesting that it is not within the rules to get the same pick back in thr same year. If it is against the rules, it could complicate any deal to swap with Richmond if WC give 14 as part of a player deal and then want it back as part of the pick swap.

We only have 3 draft picks in the first four rounds in 2024. Next year we only have four draft picks. We just didn't trade players out a couple of years ago, so we don't have draft picks so are restricted now in recruiting kids and trading for players. Can't do much really.

baker really throws a spanner in the works. i saw a talking head on fox say that in the TB deal, the eagles want 2 first rounders and the hawks get our second round pick back. the eagles want that second round pick to the hawks next year but the hawks want this years second round pick. if it means getting a first round pick next year than id do it and not hold out over this years second round pick. and take pick 3 and 14 to the draft. I'm not sure if the tigers would trade pick 6 and baker for 3 but its that or let baker stay in Melbourne another year and pick him up as a free agent. west coast need youth and high end talent at that. pick 3 would get us a gun mid and 14 we would get a good run at KPDs. baker is excess to needs at them moment.
@Ben-ij6zv10 сағат бұрын
@joshhowie7657 a one year deal for baker to get through to free agency would benefit both clubs.. I mean we'd miss him this year obviously but can take our picks to the draft and next year richmond gets band 1 compensation (ie pick 2). I think that's what they want to do and will play hardball.
@BDub2024Сағат бұрын
I reckon someone like Powell Pepper or Libertore (younger version) would be the sort of players we need. Fast, gutsy, accountable and physical presence. We need kids for sure. But need to somehow fast track the midfield or we'll have youngster walking out the door. Even an experienced journeyman older ruckman for nothng might be good.

I don’t mind the gws trade, we could use are first next year to get a mid or trade for Warner. We could use those late first to get player like Lindsay, alixru, copper hyns. This could help us in are three worst areas outside, key defenders, and a pressure forward
@jaybourne22009 сағат бұрын

Sounds like the general consensus is Harley will leave after his 3 year contract. Do you trade him end of next season, get 3 picks in top 15 and get Warner with two and another top end talent?

I think he's likely to sign another 2 to 3 years after the three years. That's the expectation currently. The new coach and change of staff have stopped all negotiations. In 2019, we underestimated Chad Warner and let him go for pick 39. This year, do we believe that Bo Allen and Hamish Davis will be as good as Chad Warner? If they will be as good, we should split pick 3 and invest into some of the local talents.

Maybe Adelaide- pick 4 plus 28 for pick 3 or we take Draper. They really want him.
@stallon7209 сағат бұрын
I dont think they do. There are other mids around there that suit them more, and same as the Eagles, they dont really care for local talent specifically
@Ben-ij6zv8 сағат бұрын
@stallon720 who suits them more and why? Draper is a gun and hes explosive. Saw a lot of damage control during the week that suggests they are sending him strong signals they want him.
@stallon7208 сағат бұрын
@@Ben-ij6zv Hes not particularly explosive, and his disposal isnt great. A Lalor, Smillie or Jagga are better fits imo. Jagga is similar to Draper but better, Lalor is a big body burst mid they lack, and Smillie is their big body clearance winner they also lack. Draper is a lot more similar to Laird or Crouch who they already have.
@Ben-ij6zv8 сағат бұрын
@stallon720 interesting. I think the vision looks good but am only seeing highlights. If he's a Laird/ Crouch type I'd prefer Eagles to take Lalor. Smillie will still be there at pick 4 if that's who they want.

@@Ben-ij6zv Lalor is being talked up as a pick 1 prospect, with Jagga the one to slide. Idk who the crows will take but its not locked to Draper is what I meant. He would be an ok fit alongside Reid/Hewett who are impact players.

WC should be trying to complicate the Baker deal, not base our entire trade and draft strategy around his acquisition. Complicating the Baker trade by taking 7+8 for 3+14 might just save WC from themselves by making it harder to acquire Baker. Every year there's a slider. 7+8 puts WC in prime position to take advantage.

You won't get that much for pick 3 this year. The first 20 players are pretty even. Teams know that so will be less likely to give multiple picks unless they are really keen on someone.
@stallon7209 сағат бұрын
Im all in on the Saints one, 3+14 for 7+8, with the saints adding steak knives of a late pick. We would more than likely get one of the mids, and then could take Travaglia. Id try and use the Hawks F1 we get for Barrass to make a Baker deal happen, or even offer it to Gold Coast for 12 Alternatively offer our F1 to someone to get back into this years draft again, we tried this last year to no success, should try again. GC pick 6 for our F1 with late picks to suit would be ideal.
@jerryfelitios83987 сағат бұрын
I bloody hope they do not split pick 3. Although, I think West Coast could do with Bo Allan. Pick three should be used for either Finn O'Sullivan, Jager Smith, or Sid Draper, whoever is still available.

Lalor would be a good one with his physicality to lend support to Harley. He is even more frightening.
@bloodshot36975 сағат бұрын
I would be trading picks to get Bolton, Baker, Robertson and Graham this year and have one pick between 10-20. We need midfield depth. Getting a young gun, is not going to help us retain Harley. We have 2 new young guns next year - Hewitt and Long. We need to climb up the ladder now and keep 2 first rounds next year for Warner. That is going to get us into the 8 in 2026 Our midfield would consist of in 2026 - Warner, Reid, Bolton, Baker, Robertson, Yeo, Kelly, Duggan, Ginbey, Hewitt, Graham.
@BDub2024Сағат бұрын
Eagles don't have the draft picks to trade for those guys. Richmond will want more than pick 3 for Bolton. Baker will be 13 (but only if we trade Barrass). Robertson may be worth our pick in the 2nd round. So the result would be one pick in round 4 for the 2024 national draft. Remember we only have 3 picks in the first four rounds this year. I agree that Harley needs a good ruckman and support in midfield. But Eagles also need to recruit young talent in.
@BDub2024Сағат бұрын
Pick 3 may be worth pick 9 and 16. Which will end up 11 and 20 approx. Mainly because the top 20 is very even this year. So giving up pick 3 won't be worth as much unless clubs are really keen. If we want a power athlete then Lalor may be left at 3 and he would add a lot of strength to the middle with Harley and the end of Yeo.

Fantastic episode, still not sure about a pick split, same as I wasn't last year 💙💛🏆🦅
@BDub2024Сағат бұрын
you'll only get later first round picks for a split, unless a side is particularly keen. That's because the top 20 are apparently pretty even so there is less incentive for sides to trade multiple picks for 3.
@seanchristie7150Сағат бұрын
@@BDub2024 exactly why the split is dubious
@BDub2024Сағат бұрын
@@seanchristie7150 We just need to somehow get extra draft picks in. The preferable approach is trading some guys that are on the fringes of our top 23. But then again that may be 3rd and 4th round picks and we'd be weaker losing guys. But we need to get the balance right in getting talented kids in the door and same time strengthening the midfield and ruck quickly.

Media reporting Neal Bullen and peatling both going for second rounders. WCE should trade Baker for a second rounder or walk away. I love your work but you have an understanding of this year's draft crop which must create self-doubts about your WCE/Rich suggestion. I know your videos are well supported by fellow Eagles but I feel you've sacrificed a little objectivity. Hypothetically cancel the exchange of pick 14s. The top 6 (this year) are pretty even so there's not a lot of difference between 3 and 6. Same can be said for 26 and 32 (this year). Which leaves WC getting Baker for nothing. Maybe some other year but not this one if Richmond have any intelligence. Having said that, I appreciate your lateral thinking and reality may not be far off what you've suggested.

Richmond has 4 picks in the 3rd and 4th rounds they are unlikely to even use that all have points attached to them so we should collect a heap of these late picks as part of a baker trade to get him for a bargain.
