Someone has request the step-by-step tutorial for sideloading AFMF2 on the ASUS ROG Ally / Ally X. Here is is. I hope this helps!

Thank goodness for this video. Straight to the point. Recently got a onexgpu and my Ally X does NOT agree with it when using stock drivers. For some weird reason, the backlight stays on when connected and displaying on my TV only. After I did this, it’s straight up plug and play. Disconnect it for handheld use and everything works perfectly still. Prior to doing this, things were not working smoothly… thanks again!

I’ve done the same process, but instead of installing the preview driver, I installed the last one 24.20.11 and it’s working fine! I will never wait for Asus again. Thanks for sharing this tutorial!

Can you please link the full AFMF 2 installer, I can only find the preview for some reason.

you should choose "AMD Radeon Graphics" (without (TM)) in the list instead of 780M, this will prevent ACSE from showing the update on the old drivers

How do I go about rolling back to stock driver ? Do I just go back into armory crate and install that update

Yes but no - if you are seeing issues after rolling back, you may need to install a DDU to remove all preview files from your Ally

Hi, I’ve followed this and it worked initially but the next time I loaded up my Ally I can’t find the AMD software centre app anywhere on the system. It doesn’t load up on start up anymore. Am I missing something here? I followed the steps and it working initially which is what has lost me! Appreciate the easy to follow video!

“After restarting, access the AMD software via the desktop's right-click context menu, it won't appear first of all so click 'show more options'. Complete the initial setup and you'll find the latest version, including features like AMD Fluid Motion Frames (if you installed the latest preview version as of Jan 10 2024).”

Is there a reason why you are still using the preview drivers instead of the official AMD drivers, which also include AFMF2?

Not really, other than the preview has been well-tested as functional and helpful as a side load and it seems to be a safe choice for an interim solution while we wait for an official ASUS release. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ The final 24.9.1 has the same driver version (24.20.11.01) as the preview, but the AMD Windows Driver version has seen an incremental change (from 32.0.12011.1010 to 32.0.12011.1036). I might try and install the newer reelase version to see if I notice any difference.... but I don't think it will matter.

When the official driver update for ally x apu comes, will it automatically update to that version, or do we have to manually install the correct ally x driver version

This worked fine for about a week. Now, i am getting lots of stuttering, screen tearing, and major frame drops. And the AMD control pannel disappeared.

I did some tests and just have no idea what is wrong. Right now, i am reinstalling Windows and hoping it rolls everything back. The AMD control app showed back up, and I clicked on it then it started to install new drivers, and i didn't think anything at first, but now it's worse. So I'm assuming it's a driver issue now. ill let you k ow if that solves it for me. @EVERYTHINGcpo

So, I'm still not sure what went wrong, but it seems to be a driver issue. i did not turn off auto updates in both Windows and aurmorcrate. I did a repair install of Windows to just reset all drivers the first time took nearly an hour and stayed on a black screen with asus loho and a slpinning loading indicator i just restarted my allyX by holding power button then tried again and was stuck on the same spinning circle for like an hour and 30. I read that the sd card maybe affecting it, so i removed it wile still loading and bam all worked out. Honestly very frustrating. All drivers reset and amd controller was back but said it needed an update and i tried but failed so just restarted then it was good. Now i am going to go through your guide again. Sorry i know that was a lot but wanted people to k ow just incase the same issues came up for them. @EVERYTHINGcpo

Confused is Adrenalin Edition 24.9.1 not out ?, why use a old driver when the new one is stable.

@@christinekellylouisehaylet3724 because the old one is the one I have been using and is vetted. No reason to change. But you can grab the new one if you want. I just was asked to show what I did to install the drivers so that is what I did.

I did every step that you did and it worked perfectly but after shutting the device off and on a few times it will not load the AMD software and say error downloading visit AMD support page.. after a few restarts

@@steezysqui Yes I did so after completely installing the driver and finishing up you have to turn off automatic updates in the AMD settings and Windows settings

This fucked up my device. Now im stuck at safe mode and can’t even proceed bcoz of a broken pin. Pls help.

In the "save mode" youll find an option with Asus in its name, its the only way to restore your device in save mode. And the reason why your pin isnt working anymore, is because in your Account options, "allowing only windows hello to login" was activ, so your pin cant be used as a login in "save mode". I hardly recommend to turn this off, always. Or your system is fucked if you cant leave save mode anymore.

This happen to me last month, thank god there is cloud recovery but it took very long time to recovery. I suggest to stay with stock driver but if you want to sideload again remove pin from your device.

A couple months ago, i disabled my fingerprint scanner, and pin and downloaded the Autologon exe from learn. Microsoft... It does exactly what it's name suggests, you put in your username and password 1 time and wa-la, it automatically logs you in everytime you boot up the handheld, even in safe mode.....
