A lot of us who were stationed in Djibouti really do care about your country and your people. We gave a surplus of food to pier workers and citizens around the base. The US government needs to be doing that on a large scale. Not enough is being done to thank Djibouti for letting us share your land. If more isn't done to help the economy and the homeless, then I don't think we deserve to take up your land.

As Somali if make comment Atmis formerly known Amison troops they are in Somalia purely for money paid by mainly European union and other contributions donors. Atmis troops contained 4 countries Kenya, Uganda Burundi and Djibouti these troopers they have income $1,200 per month Doing nothing but guarding their military bases and that's called they're in operation so-called helping brotherly country Somalia. These troopers if they were go back to their countries, you can imagine how much salaries they'll receive for none active troopers assuming on around $300 per month taking in to account to their economies. All these 4 countries the largest economy of them is Kenya which generates $90 billion a year out of 50 million people of populations. Somalia had real help in recent years from Turkey and Eritrea who trained strong 5 thousand strong Somali troopers as Somalia appreciates, who are doing the job to finishing alshabab militant on the last pocket hole in south Somalia. I think European union had enough so they're closing the tap and these 4 countries doesn't like the sound of that. Since February 2022 the E.U have now their own problem to deal with at door step (the Ukraine war).

How many non-African countries maintain a military presence in Djibouti? What is the issue when Ethiopia requests a seaport for commercial and military purposes? Is it because Africa does not belong to Africans? But Africans belong to Westerners and Asians!

Ismail Guelleh is originally from Ethiopia. Because in Djibouti the Issa sub clan of the Dir (part of Somali ethnic group) are more respected and valued in Djibouti the most, they put him in power. Ismail Guelleh is from Dire Dawa Ethiopia where a chunk of its Somali community is Issa. So, Ismail Guelleh is from Ethiopia, not Djibouti.

could you just correct your statement about djibouti having 4 languages first? second nobody discrimination you because you are ethnic afar. A lot of djiboutian people are unemployed because of bad economy and mis management of the available resources. We also face a huge corruption feed political model. So dear afar brother,we need to fix the real problems in our common country instead of creating non existing tribal issues. If you are from another country then ignore my comment. have a good time.

how did this female journalist agree to ask him questions in English president Ismail Omar Geelleh dictator republic of Djibouti? may be unable to express himself in English. in addition he blows and breathes too hard his words are not clear to understand. Please, African journalists, we ask you first to understand the person you are interviewing and their intellectual knowledge. It is not only Africans who listen but the African diaspora who are very competent. Sorry for this old president that even his state of health is deteriorating.
