I like the way you give options to play the parts. I read that Jeff and a percussionist sat in front of each other and jammed to this groove. than they picked a favorite part and made a loop.

Thanks for the insight, mate! Fascinating stuff. Jeff is a legend!

Excellent tutorial - you had me going from not knowing anything about playing it, to getting the versus completely memorized in one evening. Well done! I cant wait to be able to nail the fills :)

Glad I could help, John. Those drum fills are so much fun to play!

Brave choice of song. Epic. To quote the 'Art of Drumming ' programme. 'Drummers have been fascinated with the Pecaro shuffle on Rosanne for 40 years' 'Africa' is just as challanging. Well done, glad to see it 'warts and all' including mistakes. Most instructors dont.

Great lesson(s)! Although, you can hear clearly that he's playing 8th-notes on the ride in the choruses and I believe in the verses, also in the music video he's playing eightnotes (putting in 16-notes also) :)

I thought this beat is just a simple beat before I started to learn drums. I hope it's not too late to learn Heheh. I love Toto. Jeff Porcaro inspires me to learn.

Great job! I would love to have a breakdown of the 3rd drum-fill that Jeff did live (after the key-board solo), like at the 1990 Paris concert!

Yeah, I thought that fill was really cool as well!

excellent way to break it down! extremely helpful for me...I am not a drummer, but simulate them with my sequencer, you made it simple to understand...thank you!

Nice analysis! Couldn't really hear what the right hand was doing in the verses on the album, as you pointed out, so this answers that nicely. :)
