These names are proof that our African Cultures interrelate somehow. There are similar names with similar meanings but different spellings in different Afrcan Countries which you have already mentioned here.

Thank you for the names ! I am Kenyan and we are expecting our Baby in December after many years of wait! If it’s a girl I will call her Imani meaning faith or Nia meaning purpose

I love this! My favorites were Zakiya and Tahir! I visited Lesotho, a small country landlocked within South Africa and their names/naming culture fascinated me! The friend that we went with was named Kamohelo, which means "welcome". They said it was customary to give foreign visitors Sesotho names so they named my husband T'sepo (hope) and they named me Matabello (mother of great expectation). All the married women have a name with mother in the meaning (your husband's family gives you a new first name when you get married) and you name your first born (boy or girl) whatever the mom's married name is without the Ma (mother) part. Like, my firstborn's Sesotho name would be Tabello. Fascinating, huh? I think I got all those details right. I wasn't there for too long.

I like your video, you did a good job on the names. My daughter's name is Neema and you didn't pronunciate it right. The right way to say it is 'Neh-eh-mah'. Other than that you did a good job, i like the name Neema because it also means Grace of God.

Lovell Ruffin I think a lot of names would work! I'd avoid 2 syllable names that begin with a R or names that are similar in sound like Griffin. A few ideas off the top of my head.. Oliver, Elijah, Barrett, Maxwell, Dashiell..

Why didn't your friend from Nigeria do the video why white woman feel compelled to do it African name video you can did European name video
@TulipByAnyName5 жыл бұрын
I wasn't aware that people could only speak of names from their heritage. In that case though, you have wrongly assumed that I am a white woman of purely European heritage. The name community here embraces and shares names from a wide variety of cultures. That was my intent in filming this video.
