Hi there, no problem. In the video I refer to the treble which you might know as a double becasue I am British. Only in the USA and Canada is it called a double. I was thinking of making this a subject for one of my videos as this isn't often explained enough I feel. I myself only found this out the hard way lol. On my website I have a converstion chart to help out, which I have put in the video description box fo you. Some antique American patterns actually used British terms. TFW Olivia :D

Greetings from California, USA! Don't ever apologize for Americans who don't know the English terminology. They need to educate themselves before correcting you on the difference between English and US terminology. I believe that we are the only Country that doesn't use the metric system either. I've seen a lot of comments about you calling a DC a treble, just ignore the comments and don't let it bother you. I've learned when watching others from the UK and Australia who use English terminology, I understand exactly what stitches you are using in US terms. Some ppl are just too lazy to learn or don't know there's a difference between the two. TFS and keep up the excellent work! 💖🖒🌷😊

So at least it keeps a conversation going. It is a bit silly having two names ... but when I first started I didn't even realiase there were names for the stitches lol.. now that was confusing lol. Hi Hun, I just wanted to say a MASSIVE thanks for your tutorial, you explain everything so carefully. I've not been crocheting long, basically learnt by watching various videos on here, but I only came across your videos the other night. I'm already making these Hexagon patches up and stitching them together, I'm really enjoying how easy the pattern is the way you have shown it. I've enjoyed this tutorial very much. I'm an absolute beginner at crochet. I have wanted to crochet literally for ages, but have always had trouble with counting the stitches, reading patterns and such. However, when I came across your tut, I really wanted to give it another go, which I did. Hi.. actually we're both right, remember I use British terminology, and in the UK we call it a Treble... I did a video explaining the differences... I can't leave a link, but if you search my channel you will find it, as I get people all time getting confused over this matter. TFW

Hi there, I think if you repeated the last round until you get to the size that matches the other hexagon then I don't see why that wouldn't work. For the corners of this African Flower, on the extra rows, do 2 trebles, ch3, 2trebles to increase each side by two, which will allow it to grow bigger and still lay flat. I really hope that makes sense. TFW

Hiya, absolutely!.. Acrylic yarns are so much better these days compared to when I was a kid ... I use them all the time.. and I used acrylic for this video.. They are so much easier to wash and it keeps it shape... not to mention how much more affordable it is. Go for it.. it will look fab.. and i would love to see it when you've finished.. What you call a treble and a single crochet are correct as far as I have learned so far and I am in the USA. I am wanting to put together a Heidi African Flower Bear and she uses the hexagon shapes. Hi there... oh good question... let me google it.. ok.. .so I was using DK yarn, which apparently you might know as 'worsted weight' ?... and the hook I was using was a 4mm so that would be a size 6 hook to you? I hope that helps.. TFW Olivia :)

He he isn't this funny, I had the same comment earlier today.. and if you've been watching american tutorials, then you will be getting confused. I am using British terminology in all my videos. If you look at my channel you will see I have done a video on this very topic, sadly YT wont allow me to paste a link here, so I will put it in the description. So what the British call a treble, the Americans call a double.. confusing eh!... Hope this doesn't put you off crochet! :) TFW

I use British terminology.. because I am British.. only Americans and Canadians call what I know as the Treble a Double. Don't worry.. its a common mistake.. I did a video about it.. I love this tutorial it was so easy to follow and explained to me what I was having trouble with when I tried the pattern. I am wondering about attaching them together like you showed in the no sew grannies, do I need to add more chains in the last round to attach them ie, ch1 between the space and ch 2 instead of ch 1 in between the 2 double/treble stitches? TIA :)

I think also you could add a chain half way across the side edge, skipping a treble/double.. maybe?? This would give it extra support on the edges.. if that makes sense?? Thanks for watching :)

Luanne Roeder Hi Luanne, sorry I don't know, I generally only buy job lots of oddments from ebay, but I used a cream, dark baby pink, baby pink, and moss green colours. I always use a DK yarn unless I say so in the video, and I tend to use a 4mm hook. Sorry I wasn't more helpful.

You say that you are using UK terminology and I agree you are for the trebles but then you say single crochet for one of the rounds and I didn't think we had singles in UK terminology ... I thought what you are doing for your "singles" are actually doubles. Please advise :)

Girlybunches Heavens, it's confusing as it gets. I'm just taking up crochet again after a 15-20 gap. I was a child and I just went round and round and round doing what I now call trebles but which back then I was unaware had a name. Starting up now with the internet and all the terms flowing about freely is torture for a beginner - especially one in her 40's. I'm not surprised if people are bilingual in terms and sometime speak both at the same time! I find watching the videos with the sound off very helpful until I get the stitch pattern into my head.
