Classic performance with Elton and You Fay❤

This would have been part of the promotion for Elton's new album Honky Chateau. It was the beginning of his stardom...he had set aside his previous methods (session musicians on his albums, and a simple trio for the tours). Here he took his then touring band of Nigel Olsson drums/vocals and Dee Murray bass/vocals, and added new band member Davey Johnstone guitars/vocals...having one band to cover the studio and concert areas. All three members were unknown but brilliant musicians, and they were able to bring their talents into the recording studio, allowing Elton to record extremely diverse albums...very quickly. Most of Honky Chateau was written and recorded in four days. The concert has one foot in the past (with the orchestral backbone) but a toe in the future (Honky Chateau was the beginning of his seemingly instant stardom). For a fan, this is a pretty interesting crossroads.
