Pavarotti had a once in a century voice. I was lucky to see him live in Napoli in the 1990's. Amazing. That is the region he is singing about... the beautiful sea on an old terrace over the Gulf of Sorrento. The song is about the opera singer (Enrico Caruso), after a difficult life and leaving Italy for America, he returns, and is with his love in his home in his beloved Napoli. My grandmother & mother used to play opera all the time & Luciano Pavarotti was always the #1 hit in our home. His voice can make anyone feel emotional & you don't even know why.
