Pavarotti had a once in a century voice. I was lucky to see him live in Napoli in the 1990's. Amazing. That is the region he is singing about... the beautiful sea on an old terrace over the Gulf of Sorrento. The song is about the opera singer (Enrico Caruso), after a difficult life and leaving Italy for America, he returns, and is with his love in his home in his beloved Napoli. The chorus is: I love you very much But very, very good, you know It's a chain now That melts the blood inside the veins, you know

Caruso also found out that he was dying and he had a wife 20 yrs younger than him and she had just had a daughter they named Gloria.

The words themselves are simple expressions of lives and feelings towards the person you love. What completes this poem is the music and the singer who with the strength of his voice not only completes the poem but makes you live that experience. You are transported to the place of the event, you suffer the same pains as those who have lived them. This is the power of the voice of those who sing with passion.
