Sweet! We used to blast that album from our car stereos when I was in high school. Definitely a signature sound of the 1980's. From what I understand, the song takes its title, "Panama", from the name of the old red convertible car shown in the video rather than from a woman or the country. But sex is always a theme in Van Halen tunes. My guess is that the red knickers David Lee Roth is seen wearing in some of the clips is actually the harness for the contraption that let him fly around above the stage. In those shots it also looks like he is wearing a black cummerbund of some sort, with suspenders attached. That too might be functional, possibly providing some lower back support while he flies around the stage. But I'm just guessing.
