After some personal experience with bird Chris decided he wanted to get a new one. After some research Symon joined the family. Chris first thought Symon was a boy which is why he named him “Simon”. Later he found out she was a girl. Since then they have bonded very closely. He has taught her over 50 words. Symon loves to be mischievous and chew up her dads work documents. But no matter how much of a troublemaker she is. Chris couldn’t imagine his life without her.

She's a sweetheart 💕 I have a blue cheek conore that just turned 2 yrs old, it's like a child in their terrible twos,lol, but I love him to pieces!!! He has a vocabulary of about 15 words already, he's very smart but is a spoiled brat too! 😜 I couldn't see myself without him in my life at this point, I believe we have taught eachother alot!! I have 2 CAG’s, they rule the roost we adore them and accept the destruction as the totally normal Parrot play it is! Cats knock stuff over too, ours adore dropping things. Our boy Matisse is very bossy, Honey is the quieter gentler one. I can hardly recall life before them. ❤

You're in for a wild ride with your Grey. I've had mine for 27 years this month (he's now 33) and it has been crazy, they literally take over your life. When I got him when he was 6, he seemed like a nice gentle bird who was quite the talker (he has an over 200 word vocabulary) but after a couple days, he turned out to be a vicious biter. Took over 15 years of dealing with deep puncture wounds, slashing bites, unprovoked attacks and almost having my eye put out by him to get him to stop biting to the extent that he used to, though even today he still gives quite the bite for no apparent reason. Even caused an infection in one of my fingers this year that had to be treated after it swelled up to three times the normal size. Luckily you got him young enough to where you should be able to control that kind of activity, they develop a lot of their bad habits during the first two years of their life. Might explain why he had 3 previous owners during his first 6 years before I got him. Hope you understand that this is a life time commitment and someday you have to come to terms with the fact that Symone has the capacity to out live you. Not until I turned 70 did that hit me, mine probably has another 30-40 years to live while I'll be lucky to get another 20. Something to thing about in the future, but for now, enjoy the antics of these crazy lovable creatures.

I got a chihuahua to keep my big dog (best friend, soul doggy) company while im gone but it turns out the chihuahua wont let ne go anywhere without him. my ex GF had a parrot that loved everyone that came over always the sweetest bird anyone ever met. EXCEPT my GF's mother. and when she would walk in she would go nuts and scream go away go home and fly into our room and wouldn't come out until she left. and her mother was the sweetest woman i ever met. and no one ever knew why she hated her.

I've had an African Grey for over 20 years now, and whilst this is gonna come across as rude, it's not intended to. But after a certain age (talking owners here), I'm of the opinion most people shouldn't buy a young parrot. African Greys, if healthy, can easily live to 40, some older. Seen so many of these birds rehomed for that very reason. Our was a rescue, and we have no real idea how old she really is because she is without the leg ring and other documentation. But here we are 20+ years later.
