Same, i often at least try to go out of mine and sometimes it really pays off. No point getting stuck just in one genre, diverse as it may be. I love watching people doing the same, i dont immediatelly expect them to like what i do, but i always like a honest reaction and an honest opinion. Nice way of getting a different perspective.

To quote Sam Dunn (METAL: a Headbangers Journey ) ". If metal doesn't give that overwhelming surge of power that make the hair stand up at the back of your neck, you might never get it," Bands like Amon Amarth (and My fav, MANOWAR) gives you that.. music that makes the hair on your arms, legs and back stand up.. they give you a lyrical/musical "boost" of power, of self confidence .. a form of both wellbeing and a feeling of that the whole world could be against you, and you would be ready to take them all on (If not alone then with your metal head friends or should i call y'all, metal head FAMILY 🖤)

Melodic death metal is all about light and shade: typically (but not always), melodic music under harsh vocals. Death Metal tends just to be the shade. To really have your mind blown, you need Arch Enemy. For an intro, try House of Mirrors; for a brain melt you need Nemeis (live in Japan 2008)

So, a few things: these guys are likely my favourite Melodic Death Metal band. My favourite song of theirs though even after all these years is Twilight Of The Thunder God, especially the only audio version as although you would think it fits I find the thunder and other sound effects they have in the music video takes away from the song; it's about Thor's final battle in Ragnarok (Old Norse equivalent of the Christian Armageddon) against Jormungandr the World Serpent and it's about as epic as it gets... one of the only other Melodeath bands that I think even comes close to Amon Amarth has a cameo in it as well because the guitar solo is played by the former lead guitarist Roope Latvala from Finland's Children Of Bodom. For Death Metal my two favourite subgenres are definitely Folk Metal and Progressive Death Metal though, Folk because it uses all of the neat obscure instruments like Hurdy-Gurdys and Jaw Harps and Progressive because the musicianship is at its highest level; many people say that Technical Death Metal has better musicianship than Progressive Death Metal but I disagree because while they often have greater skill at their instruments it's a small difference and they often forgo any melody to just focus on pure technique whereas melody is as important to Prog as any technique could ever be. Sweden has a couple of my favourite bands for both Folk Metal and Progressive Death Metal as well, those bands being Manegarm and Opeth respectively; I would recommend the song Blodorn from Manegarm and either Ghost Of Perdition or Master's Apprentices by Opeth... Progressive Metal is also really good outside of the stuff that's Progressive Death Metal as well and that's currently what Opeth has been doing since 2011. Two of my favourite groups in Prog Metal that aren't Prog Death actually have connections to Africa as well, probably my favourite instrumental Progressive Metal band is Animals As Leaders and their lead guitarist Tosin Abasi is an American born to Nigerian parents; I would recommend Song Of Solomon off of their first album to really dive in to how great of a guitarist he is right off the bat... the other African Prog Metal group is from North Africa who are called Myrath and they're Tunisian. They're really cool too, because they're actually Progressive Folk Metal and they use instruments from their local cultures such as the Berbers along with incorporating the melodies from said cultures plus they've even covered Berber singers as well as had some of said singers on their albums. For songs of theirs I would either recommend Tales Of The Sands off of the same album or Mersal off of Shehili which has the Berber singer Lotfi Bouchnak on it, but back to Death Metal if you want it combined with Progressive Folk Metal then there's another band that's amongst my favourites who have been mentioned here a couple of times and that's Amorphis from Finland; Death Of A King off of From Under The Red Cloud is one that I would recommend along with basically anything on Queen Of Time... I can't really pick a favourite on that album but if I did then The Golden Elk might be it. To round out this ramble, there's one other band that I would recommend probably even above Opeth or any of the others; they're Progressive Death Metal from Australia and they're called Ne Obliviscaris... my favourite song is Forget Not which is from their first album Portal Of I and is the English translation of their Latin band name. Libera is the next song of theirs that I would pick off of their most recent album Urn, but in my opinion you really can't go wrong with most of their stuff; the whole band is classically trained and their clean singer also plays the violin... Forget Not and the other song off of that album which everyone reacts to called And Plague Flowers The Kaleidoscope are also actually both studied at the Sydney Conservatorium by music students enrolled in Matthew Hindson's Composition courses so that they can learn the extent of what to do when writing musically well crafted songs.

"Real" Death Metal fans curse the Swedish and other Scandinavian bands for what they have done. They combined Death with other styles. The result is a colorful mix that offers something for everyone. I'll throw in some girl power here: Growling (Medlodic Death Metal): JINJER - Perennial (Live at Wacken Open Air 2019) | Napalm Records ARCH ENEMY - Handshake With Hell (OFFICIAL VIDEO) (With there second female singer) THE AGONIST - Feast On The Living (Official Video) | Napalm Records (With there second singer) RAGE OF LIGHT - Lead the Riot (OFFICIAL VIDEO) (with there second singer) AMARANTHE - Viral (OFFICIAL MUSIC VIDEO) AD INFINITUM - Animals (One-Take Singthrough by Melissa Bonny) | Napalm Records (With the first singer of Rage of Light) THE AGONIST - Feast On The Living (Official Video) | Napalm Records (With there second singer) Screaming (metal core): In This Moment - "The In Between" [OFFICIAL VIDEO] Spiritbox - Rule of Nines - Courtney LaPlante live one take performance SETYØURSAILS - Mirror (Official Video) | Napalm Records
