Fun fact about Twilight of the Thunder God: The solo in the song was played by a guest guitarist, Roope Latvala, a Finnish guitar legend who played in bands like Stone and Children of Bodom. He came to the studio, listened to the track and nailed the solo on the first recording. The band, Amon Amarth that is, was stoked about it, but only later they realized they'll have to play the song live and no one could pull off that solo, so in live recordings they improvise a simpler version of it.

What is Judson's familiarity as far as Led Zeppelin goes? Wondering how he would react to say "Kashmir", "Carouselambra " , "Trampled Under Foot", "In the Light", "The Wanton Song", the powerful "Achilles Last Stand" which Robert recorded vocals in a wheelchair. There are over 50 amazing Zeppelin songs I could through out there that are just amazing. "The Rain Song", freaking "No Quarter" and "Gallows Pole" !!! There are also three amazing live songs I will offer, "Bring it on Home", "Since I've Benn Loving You", and "In My Time of Dying".

Although they are much bigger now, I jumped (dragon-headed) ship a decade ago or so. I'm glad they're doing well although the last 3 albums didn't do anything for me personally but their 2000s stuff is still legendary. This album is basically their artistic peak as far as I'm concerned. With that in mind I have to give kudos to Surtur Rising and Deceiver of the Gods, because these were the first albums I bought from them. Around that time I got into metal and I think I saw them on TV at a festival and it was my first time hearing guttural vocals. My favourite album is Versus the world, closely followed by With Oden on our side. Some of my friends got into old In Flames via them, so maybe I can introduce them to At the Gates, Dark Tranquility and Insomnium... We shall see hehe. Maybe a slower Insomnium song might be another good choice for future reference. Keep it up!

In actual Asatru (Norse) mythology, Loki is actually a "blood brother" of Odin. Loki is also half-Jotun, half-god and lives in Asgard. His relationship with Odin is probably the only reason the other Asgardian gods put up with him, lol. Jormungandr is the "World Serpent" and is one of Loki's children. With one partner, Loki fathered Jormungandr, Fenrir (the wolf that is said to kill Odin during Ragnarok) and Hel (ruler of the realm of the dead, Helheim, which means House of Hel). In most Asatru sources, Hel is both the goddess and a realm, but I use the world Helheim (which some sources call it) for the realm to avoid confusion. Loki fathered more children with another partner and Loki himself, being a shape-shifter, has actually given birth as well. While Frigg is Odin's wife and did father Thor, Thor's mom is actually another goddess named Jord.

Jetson is pretty knowledgeable about the old north mythology. Here are some pieces to fill in the gaps: Odin has one eye cause he threw his other eye in the well of wisdom (to gain wisdom). Odin has two ravens: Hugin and Munin. Thor is the god of thunder, his hammer is called Mjölner (Jetson was right about that) and he bring thunder and lightning with that hammer. He got a 10-legged horse that's called Sleipner (or is it Odins horse? I don't remember). There's also a boar called Särimner whom they eat, but he is always resurrected and ready to get eaten again. Pretty weird stuff, but anyways. That is some things they believed in back then.

AA wants to be labeled as MeloDeath because Viking Metal is technically something different, it's typically seen as black metal with influences from Nordic folk music. Hordanes Land (1993) from Enslaved beeing one of the first pioneer records. AA clearly has a different sound that that. \m/ As next AA song I suggest something from Versus The World. Death In Fire, Where Silent Gods Stand Guard and 1000 Years of Oppression are my favs.

Funnily enough. Both Fänrisulven (The wolf Fenrir) and Midgårdsormen (Jörmungandr) were actually children of Loke (Loki), as was the goddess of hell, Hel. Loke himself was never a son of Oden (Odin), though, but he was "mostly adopted" and became a "raised brother" (Fostbrödralag), with Tor (Thor). Now how about that? In another story. Loke gave birth to Odens eight legged horse, Sleipner, meaning, he was its mother?
