@truckermre yeah it's amazing to think it's 10km deep below me. Thank you I think I'm heading back out just before New Years

Very interesting. Thanks for posting, I love learning new things. In a previous video you said you help treat the wood, are you able to post a video showing how you do that?
@emmo_93Ай бұрын
@@Lyle-tm1tm can't video during that process as I'm geared up in protective gear 😁 I just enjoy showing people what it's like on board and how life is like 😊

Loved the ship tour!!
@emmo_93Ай бұрын
@Dinngg0 thank you I'm glad you enjoyed. I guess people are curious as to what it's like inside one of these. This one has 5 floors but some panamax, cape size and container ships are up to 8 or 9 floors high and have elevators inside

Another great video which as usual was very interesting. I tried to track you on Marine Tracker but you were already berthed in Incheon. Enjoyed the footage of the pilot boarding. Always look forward to your bulk carrier tours.

@emmo_93Ай бұрын
Ce navire doit être mis en cale sèche le mois prochain pour un nettoyage et un entretien en profondeur.

Great tour as always! I believe you're correct about the Suez cabin. I've heard that the crew that boards along with the pilot get to have their own accommodations, and often set up souvenir stands to sell to the crew that's already onboard.
@emmo_93Ай бұрын
@DawnofMeat slightly older ship. The outside decks were painted red throughout the voyage I should have included the before and after in this video. Thank you confirming that about the suez cabin I thought that was the case
@truckermreАй бұрын
I’m guessing that is where the armed guards also stay when in pirate waters?
@emmo_93Ай бұрын
@truckermre nope they're assigned spare crew or officer cabins usually there will be 3 rotating on each officers watch 4-8 8-12 12-16

Hiya, another questions, it is much appreciated and love the videos. Do you know any kiwi / nz based deck officers that would be happy to have a more indepth chat around that sort of role? cheers
@emmo_93Ай бұрын
The work I do is nothing to do with the operations of the ship I'm a contractor on board. The best thing you could do if you want to pursue a career on the seas is talk with the maritime college in Nelson or Auckland for more information about career pathways
@wakodude9635Ай бұрын
Where do you look for available contracts for NZ? Where would you look for deck officer positions specifically for NZ, or in general. (not in the industry but looking into it)
@emmo_93Ай бұрын
@wakodude9635 study first at MIT in Nelson you can get started with as little as just your basic stcw training and join as an OS or you can study nautical science foreign going for two years and then apply for deck cadet positions I think bluebridge and interislander take on cadets but no salary it's just to see if you're keen. Otherwise overseas companies. You'll be gone for a whole year during your cadetship
@user-pw3cq7cu9oАй бұрын
@@emmo_93awesome thanks. How are the job opportunities out of nz for officers? Is it very competitive or is the demand fulfilled by Asian countries? We don’t have any jones act or equivalent do we?
@emmo_93Ай бұрын
@user-pw3cq7cu9o after your nautical science diploma they will recommend companies to look for a cadetship you'll be repatriated to and from New Zealand cadet salary is very small do keep that in mind

Exporting raw logs = exporting New Zealand jobs. This should be a banned practice.
@emmo_93Ай бұрын
@Islandwaterjet there's simply not enough demand with a population of only 5 million people for all the wood we grow it's one of our biggest exports along with dairy and other fresh produce. It's sustainable too when these trees are harvested they are replanted soon after
