Oh wow! Impressive collection. You, my dear, must truly have green fingers :) I have 8 cultivars at the moment but couldn’t help myself and just ordered 6 more! Informative videos and great to look at. Keep up the good work! :))

Those are beautiful blooms. Some of them look like small candies. Too bad African Violets don't have fragrance. Could you imagine. Anyways love the video.

Thank you! Wow, never thought of it, AVs having fragrance. That would be cool! They are beautiful, with or without fragrance!

Thank you! Mine are under artificial lights, so I try fertilizing them less, to make them rest during winter - working on some, but not all - some just want to bloom all the time :-)

Thank you! On this shelf, I have the 5000K/4100LM integrated LED fixture that I got from Amazon: www.amazon.com/Sunco-Lighting-Equivalent-Daylight-Integrated/dp/B076DJGWP2. I had it fixed with zip ties to the shelf. Planning to make a separate video about my AV lights this year, stay tuned!

I have a question. I bought a African Violets which was blooming , stop opening the flowers. Do you know the possible cause?
@grayturtleviolets4 жыл бұрын
There might be a few reasons - not enough light, low humidity, old potting mix, nutrient deficiency, grooming (older leaves need to be removed to let the plant focus its growth on the new leaves) - just to name a few. Mine bloom with indirect sunlight, supplemented by LED lights, for a total of 10-12 hours a day, humidity at 50-70%, and constant fertilization with 1/4 teaspoon per gallon of water with the Dyna-Gro Liquid Plant Food 7-9-5 fertilizer - wick-watered. I do give them a break during winter months and also when it gets too hot (July, August) - to rest from blooming, this is when I stop fertilizing. Also, the change in the growing environment might cause the pause in blooming - the plant might need some time to adjust to the new growing environment, and then it will bloom again!

Gray Turtle I bought Jacks Classic fertilizer 12-36-14. I never tried before.

@@Alexxa1130 I've never used it either, it might work. However, look carefully on the label for the nitrogen content, I just checked it online, and it says "Urea" which is known to cause root burn on African Violets. I use Dyna-Gro instead, because it is urea-free. Optimara has a good read on this: www.optimara.com/africanvioletcare2.html
