A woman can also prefer polygamy, most women who are in a polygamous relationship did that with their consent. Besides, not everyone believes in the book of Moses. People have the right to live according to their own traditions. Unfortunately, a lot of Africans have allowed themselves to be completely brainwashed and assimilated into foreign beliefs and cultures. What you folks don't understand is that religion is part of a people's culture. Christianity in a mix of cultures of people from Europe and Middle East and Islam is part and parcel of Arabic and Persian cultures. In their quest for domination Europeans and folks from Middle East have destroyed our cultures and traditions and they have subjugated and assimilated our people. Nowadays we see growing number of Africans who don't command their native languages. But our are keen to learn foreign languages. It seems like our people are voluntarily throwing away their identity and we accepted to be seen and treated like a second class citizens by other races, even in our land. We Africans must wake up from our slumber and embrace pan-Africanism. We can only be respected if we respect our cultures and traditions. We must be proud of who we are. We must understand that our culture and traditions define our identity. However, I do believe that we can look into some areas of our traditions and change things that are not reasonable or plain wicked, e.g. a tradition wherein a wedow and her children can be thrown out of her late husband's house, their matrimonial home by her late husband's family. Wickedness shouldn't be a part of our tradition. We don't need foreigners and their religion to do what is right.

Polygamy in Mexico is not legal, but there are some hilarious cases where a man cheating his wives as none of them knows of each other, the guy would say that because of his job he would not be at home for a period of time hahaha but it turns out he would spend time with his other family, usually those cases ends up in litigation

Polygamy is good, with a lot of benefits. It is also Biblical. A lot of the patriarchs in the bible practiced it. The problem is lack of education for men and women on how to effectively practice it. Colonialism and the subsequent attempts to impose western standards did not help either. We need to start thinking of how best to harness all the positives (and they are many) of polygamy, explore how it benefits the people, community and society at large. This should be the direction of the conversation.

The only way I see poligamy as a practice that respects our sisters is if the supposedly husband is just there to edify a sister and help her in the choice of the perfect man to share her life with but not a man that is having sex with multiple wives and multiplying the number of families.
