Congratulations, you have done a nice job with your house. You are living the dream! My observations, as an architect: I would have built an anti-ballistic perimeter wall, since you are building a wall. Pedestal sinks are not as functional as a sink with a counter A pantry is a good feature for a kitchen. No basement? Always plan your foundation so a second story can be added later.

You could dig a borehole and install a water tank so you can be free from paid water supply. That's what we mostly do in Nigeria. Once you have solar for electricity supply and borehole, you have almost no bills

New homes with land were starting at the equivalent of 31K in USD with all the ammenities. Africa is offering a 2020 lifestyle at a 1650s price in many places. I cannot own land with a NEW home in America or Europe for this price. Congratulations to you and your family. It is marvelous to see more and more of us making this move.

I agree possibly the best places in America to own a home is the deep south but that is being flooded with more people who inflate the market. Africa is the new frontier and a land of opportunity. There are African Americans who relocated and never looked back and some of them were able to afford maid service.

@themuddygee : Which country in Africa are you planning on moving to? The continent of Africa is huge with roughly 54 countries with diverse economies, cultures, languages, religion and political structures. All countries in Africa are not the same. Some countries in the Northern parts of Africa are highly developed but strictly Islamic in their laws. It is good that you do your research on various countries and find the country that is favorable for your relocation to Africa. I have nothing against Islamic countries of Northern Africa. It is good to know the laws and customs of any countries before deciding to move there. Wishing you good luck as you find your way in moving to Africa.

$80k not bad for building a 3 bedroom house including land purchase. How long did it take to build?

AfroAmericaninAfrica wow! That's really fast. I'm interested in building a home in West Africa. Was it difficult finding contractors?

Dani's World I think Namibia is expensive still in my country you can get a huge house and land for that.

In Africa you need dogs for security and as for how long it takes to build a house, that depends on whether you have gathered enough building materials and also enough labour. A house can take days or a week to finish, that is if it has already had concrete foundation which is easy to do when it's sunny and not raining
