we did the same idea we have master upstairs but have provisions to turn spaces downstairs later.

Hi Mama Dee we did that 14 yrs ago,my late hubby got sick and we had a problem with paramedics accessing my main bedroom,we had ensuite bedroom from the existing house b4 we renovated,t problem hubby didn't want to move down stairs as the main bedroom upstairs was warm during winter,it has huge bay windows,I know what you talking about he had a problem walking upstairs,,its a pitty I will be selling the house as it is huge for me,the kid's are not staying with me
