Every time I hear this song it takes me back to the summer of 1968 sitting in the back seat of my dad's metallic light blue Cadillac convertible (top down), with my Mom and Dad (pre-divorce) in the front seat on our way to the Kansas City Plaza, with this song playing through the car's stereo complete with back seat "reverb speaker". A time and a song I hold dear to me.

Fascinating how everyone thinks their teenage years were the best ever for music. For me, it was the 70's, hands down, no contest. No other era was as good, ever. It was the pinnacle for Pop/Rock/Top 40--although I certainly love the 60's as well, as they were a hugely indispensible era for Top 40 music, and much greatness came out of that decade in terms of mainstream pop/rock music. I loved how even AM pop Top 40 had a nicely blended mixture of genres by the 70's (and even before), everything from country songs to rock hits, to bubblegum (if you liked that sort of thing, which I definitely did back then)--and the soul songs of the early to mid-70's was unrivaled, IMHO (and yes, I'm well aware of how Motown had its roots in the 60's and how a lot of undeniably great stuff began and took root in those early days). If I had to say what I consider my era for music to be in the broadest sense, it would be the 60's, 70's and 80's-- with a special place in my heart for the 70's. One thing that I think most of us 20th century types can probably mostly agree on is that 21st century music pretty much sucks by comparison. Hate to say it, youngsters--but you totally missed the boat.

Just a innocent story of my memory of this incredibly memorable classic..when it came out I was 14..when I first heard it I fell in love with it, rushed out and bought the 45..played it over and over again..and when alone, call me silly, but I would dance, or try to, like a ballerina.. I would imagine dancing in front of a audience as I danced and would slowly make my turns to the music..and I swear I could see their faces and all .. even at the ending would bow as gracefully as i could to my make-believe audience..what a magical time that was ..❤🕊️🌌❤

"Love is Blue" is one of my favorites from '68, a nice diversion from all the nastiness that's going on and still lies ahead for us. Famous and Jenny are showing us some of the moves that won them the dance contest a few weeks earlier. As I am writing this, the Decades network is paying tribute to Mike Nesmith with its weekend Monkees binge. My favorite songs from him are "You Just May Be the One" and "Listen to the Band". A talented musician and a fine deadpan comic. We just lost Joe Simon who was mainly a '70s artist but got his start in the '60s. Finally, best wishes to everyone during the holidays.

I don’t know it was Frank that was having those head motions, but it reminded me of a You Tube clip on the Ed Sullivan show and the dance interpretation of that song. Check it out, it’s really cool. “You’re Listening to American Bandstand” Was that Dick’s salute to beautiful music? Famous and June, well that is “Dancing With the Stars” material and their signature dip. And that song was @dancerdon’ s speed there (just playing with you dancer Don)..

@dancer don HEY DON!!! I can't even remember the last time an instrumental was a hit on the charts! Shoot, maybe the theme to Miami Vice? Lol Anyway, hope you are doing well, this new variant is gonna make things a bit weird again. But I got my booster & still masking up everywhere! Great song for a rainy, foggy, wet NYC Saturday afternoon. Be careful out there man!!!

@@thruthealcove Hey Kevin you be careful too! The news just announced that there won’t be a live audience at tonight’s SNL. I’m vaxxed and boosted but I mask up no matter where I go. LOL at an instrumental charting! Looks like 2022 will continue to be problematic. Grrr those anti-vaxxers aren’t helping the cause. Take care. Hope the holidays are good to you!

I turned six years old that year. I loved that song. It was on the radio all the time and it was on the jukebox of the Comeback Inn, where my mother would take my sister and I when we were small. The restaurant (around the city limits of Chicago) had a giant stuffed grizzly bear over the door, and the indoor atmosphere was dark, with peanut shells on the floor. I always think of my mother when I hear it because love was always blue for her.

Of course it's in my iPod and I listen to it regularly. It restores my soul and enriches me with my favorite memories. Like most of the old songs on my iPod.

I believe this was the only number one hit from a French artist ever in the United States

These young people ( born between 1949-1953) were living in a historic time.1968 is considered to be the most tumultuous year since the Civil War era.Riots, assassinations, the Vietnam war,protests... yet all they wanted was just to live their lives, make the most of being young and enjoy good music
