Did the same almost four years ago. Switched to the Studio version very soon. Around 300 Euros for an editing software of this quality is a no brainer. DR has made huge steps forward the recent three years and the support of the community esp on YT is incredible. What we need is a PlugIn for Insta360 footage. :-D

Five years ago I started using resolve because I was looking for a poor man’s Premiere Pro and needed 360 support due to lack of combining in the Insta360 app. Being a hobbyist I couldn’t justify to myself to pay for the subscription. Best decision of my life which I started appreciating after some time. I still wish they would invest more in making 360 more intuitive but as long as my PC doesn’t choke on it today I can make the best things.

No worries- do you go back to old projects a lot? I never do. You can always resubscribe for a month to regain access to them if need be.
@No0ne._.6 ай бұрын
You can export them out to XMLs and import them to davinci resolve, it's not a 1 to 1 move, but it's better than nothing, look up how to do it, it's not exactly intuitive and I've never used premiere so I don't want to say the wrong thing.

I use both and respectfully disagree. I do not prefer the interface at all. They are both fine. I edit every day, almost all day with Adobe Premiere and can't remember the last time I had a crash; even switching between Premiere, After Effects and Photoshop, seamlessly. The fact is, if you know what you're doing, you can do anything you need to do in any editor.

Cost isn't an argument for professionals since we can write it off in our taxes. Also, the interface really is a preference, I personally find the Davinci layout less intuitive (and the fact that it's not customisable makes it a big no-no for me). I also like having dedicated softwares for each task. To each their own. :)
@BenClaremont6 ай бұрын
Yes cost is still a factor- I’ve been editing professionally for 15 years and a US $250 per year subscription can go a long way with apps in 2024- 1 Premiere subscription = 2-3 other subscriptions that could take your business FAR further. Smart businesses do not waste money unnecessarily 😉 otherwise yes, the other things are a personal preference… it’s just amazing that you can get the same functionality as premiere from a completely free software 😁
@misterwhyte6 ай бұрын
@@BenClaremont I don't get your point regarding cost? Unless you're routinely going over the threshold for what you can claim (never happened to me but maybe that's different for you), then that subscription cost will either go towards a software or in the government's pocket. So either way, you're gonna lose that money. Agreed though that Davinci is impressive for its cost but I guess that's only possible because Black Magic sells expensive equipment.
@BenClaremont6 ай бұрын
@@misterwhyte in 2024 EVERYTHING is becoming a SaaS software. Some are worth it, some not. You can still make tax deductions through business purchases, but why spend on programs that you don’t need to, when other marketing, website, or even video tools & plugins could deliver something MORE than what Davinci does for free. Premiere USED TO BE worth paying for, but in my opinion, it’s not in 2024. I’d rather pay for services like CapCut that help create great social media content and use Davinci for free, combined with the 20 other high-value SaaS softwares I pay for.
