I have a 1989 Honda Crx HF with over 377,000 miles on the odometer. It has never broken down or been in the shop except for tires. It is a simple car that has been rock solid for thirty five years. How I wish my girl could get this treatment. She deserves. Great job, guys!

Thanks for your thoughtful reply and encouragement. Yes, it is on the agenda for sure. In the meantime, I keep it well maintained so that it will be worth refurbishing. I have had much nicer cars (this car didn't even come with a cup holder) but not one that I liked better. This car is a big part of my life's journey and that is the context in which it is important to me.@@JNAMOTORSPORTS

This video brought back a lot of memories and a tear to my eyes. My first car was this same year and color. I loved that Si! I bought it for $600 at a wrecking yard, who got it from a police auction for as much. My dad was friends with the wrecking yard owner, and he did me a solid. The police impounded it after the driver wrecked it into a parked car while intoxicated. I fixed up the front end over a summer and had a near perfect car with 69k miles. The interior was perfect! The seats looked new, the floor mats looked new, and the sunroof worked flawlessly. As a senior in high school in 2000, I had a pretty slick ride! Unfortunately, it was involved in an accident during a very bad rainstorm. The back end was crushed, and so was my heart. I would love to find one just like it someday and restore it like this. Thank you for sharing this project!

This was lovely to watch, certainly boosted my inspiration. I am a proud owner of a '89 CRX, but the car is wanting of metal work (doors, rear wells) and paint. Sadly, I have not had the time to work on it for a decade, but I don't think I'll be leaving the car completely alone this coming summer. It's Rio Red, now pastel yellow. I was thinking of a "faster", more 90s yellow with a a tinge of green in it, but now I'm actually considering going OEM. The conundrum here is that the color doesn't do much for me, personally. A lighter color brings the trims and especially the dominating rear light setup to life. So, OEM or own? It sounds like I'm asking for an authority to choose for me, but that is the core of the matter, actually. Despite contemplation I can not find myself going OEM (red) just because Honda painted this specimen that color. Sure, I would be ticking a box - a sizable one, given the age of the car - but whose box is it? Ultimately, time will claim the color and the aspirations behind it, so perhaps my will may have it's moment in the passage of time, a breath in the wind among many before, many yet to come. Didn't sit down to write all this. One thought simply led to another. And no, I didn't spend the last decade plexing about the color. 😀

This was an awesome video! I had a 1985 CRX and loved it...but in the northeast, it was rusted out by 1995...especially behind the rear wheel wells and the bottom pinch seam on both doors. This must have been a California car...didn't see much rust at all for 34 year old car. One request...could you make a video covering the challenges of painting the bumper covers and why they often look different? We had my wife's car repainted after an accident and the bumper cover looks ever so slightly different. They explained that it's nearly impossible to match but I never understood why. Since then, I've noticed tons of vehicles driving around with front and rear bumper covers that are very slightly off compared to the body of the car. Would be interesting to hear your take on that issue. Thanks!
