Amazing details. Wisdom and experience. Thank you for sharing Don. I am stealing some ideas to make my 26 ft Columbia safe as possible. These are blue water boats amazing. Brilliant

Great video. What's that say about me😢. Can this wind vane be used as an emergency rudder? Thank you

I fish for red drum, spec trout and flounder in the Texas Gulf Coast marsh areas. There are special “flats” boats the can float in 8-10” of water. They generally have SeaDek on all the horizontal surfaces for good traction and sound deadening to help prevent spooking the fish. SeaDek makes many colors and styles and can incorporate your boat name or logo into the pattern.

This was very interesting for me. That sea-deck stuff seems to work fine.

Why didn't you put a Windpilot Pacific Light on the back? Same weight, I doubt it would have some of the issues of the South Atlantic
@mcintyreadventure2 ай бұрын
50% of the price :)..the Wind pilot is ok...but SA also comes with a custom 580 mount and it is improving all the time...the servo pendulum principle is simple.....engineering is solid and reliable and the main thing is bearings and linkages...the rest is anyone can do it....so SA is ok and when making my initial decision cost was relevant and it was a quite different...also most vanes around are different interpretations of the same concepts principle or copy...that is life :)

I am currently rebuilding a little stip plank young which I am setting up for single handed journeys in the sth pacific. I believe it appears to be the 'embossed' 5mm. Possible a different thickness, that looks and sounds correct. If you asked the company they will know also have templates if he ordered that way. Seadec.

Why not just raise the cockpit floor instead of installing flaps? It would drain easier as well.

there are actually quite a few around the world as a mark of respect to John Guzzwel who is part of the inspiration of the Class Globe 580 and he was happy to be the Patron of the Mini Globe Race feeling honoured, so now, sadly he has passed he will remain Patron in memoriam.
