That's a beautiful program to help others. Kids who grew up in foster care need extra help and support. My dad died at 13 and mom died at 15. It was extremely hard to get life started at 17 and 18

That is an unfair and painful challenge, my condolences. I hope your life will bring you gifts of abundance, blacknight88.

About time their is support for youth transitioning out of this system. Expected to be adults on demand. Hope more support as housing grows.

I just donated! If it will help someone stay off the streets and become a responsible adult it's worth every penny.

I wish people from other states see this and can expand this program to lift up other young people, older folks who are homeless. Maybe we can alleviate some of the social services programs that are overwhelmed with the homeless problem. Take notes NYC!!!

They could do the same for homeless Vets, and other homeless people.

There are programs just like this for vets and the homeless in other parts of the country too. The issue is that these are non-profit orgs, each with their own specific mission. They depend on donations from corps, local gov, and individuals. There is no way to scale (grow large) something like this for tons of people in all the various vulnerable groups you mentioned without real backing and money from government and the for-profit sector.

I’m so happy they do this. 16-21 is a critical time to keep young women safe and housed. So many get into bad relationships out of financial desperation, and end up single moms and stuck in bad situations. Stable housing and jobs is critical to getting them on the right track. 🎉❤

What a worthwhile program for kids aging out of foster care. I can't imagine trying to start my adult life with no family support. God bless these kids.

OKLAHOMA City: Bless your hearts! I met an 18 year old boy in Portland, Oregon once. He'd aged out of foster care and was on the streets with a pillowcase for his meager belongings. No offer of financial care so he go to community College. Nothing! He was cold and hungry and his clothes were close to falling of of him. He owned a comb and a toothbrush, so he would have looked presentable if he was clean. The friend I was with and I gave him money for a meal and for a laundromat. We told him that the laundromat might have a bathroom where he could clean up and put his newly cleaned clothes on to look like he could get a job. I've thought about that poor kid many times. In maturity, a 16 year old girl is equal to an 18 year old boy. Who would throw a 16 year old girl out to fend for herself? And yet, in the U.S., that's what happens to foster boys on a daily basis. As a country, we should be ashamed!

This is a fantastic initiative. It reminds me of some of the ideas from the Depelchin Faith Home / Children's Center in Houston TX. After they outgrew their 1913 commissioned facility on 2700 Albany -- a lovely building modeled after an Italianate villa -- DePelchin modeled their new residence buildings in a cottage layout, meaning that children were housed in several free-standing, small buildings rather than one large building. This arrangement was thought to be more conducive to creating a healthy home environment than was a dormitory-style building.

I wish there something like this in my country. We have free education, but sometimes children drop out when they age out of foster care, because they no longer have a support system which will allow them to study.

It hurts my heart that the govt is only willing to care for you until you are 18, but doesn't teach you the necessary life skills to be an adult. Granted my parents didn't either but I found people who were willing to teach me as a young adult so Thank Yahuah for the blessing.

You don't want clusters of at-risk people if you can avoid it if you are trying to help the individuals. All it takes is a few bad apples to greatly increase the likelihood of bad outcomes for the people around them. These should be spread around safe areas, preferably next door to police stations.
