Talking to NPCs is TREASURED. there is just so many jokes, lore and characterization hidden behind it. Its like speaking to your team mates between missions in Mass effect or ya know... EVERY FINAL FANTASY ever.

I admit it, as much as I appreciate him still being alive, thancred dying at that moment would have been a good end. It could have been a mutual kill between the two, with them sharing their motivations and thoughts regarding Minfilia as mirrors to each other. (mimicing a certain other fight). We could have still had a final fight with "Ranjith" later with his corpses having been retrieved and turned by Vauthry into a terrible arch-sineater as a cruel mockery further cementing how disgusting the leader of Eulmore was.
