I loved this! So you inspired me to do a “no buy” for whole year! I have made it this far without buying any clothes or shoes and my goal is to hit Jan 1st. A good way to test if pants will fit without trying them on: close the buttons and hold it up in front of you (how it usually is on the hanger) then hold to your neck. Your fingers should just touch in the back and it should fit? Otherwise you could measure half your waist circumference and know what that is compared to your arm or something you can easily hold up in the store that you'll always have with you!

If your striped top has an oil stain: add baby powder (with talc) and let it sit for a couple of days, shake off the excess powder, and throw into the wash like normal. The stain will be gone. If not all of it is gone, then repeat. This works even if the item has been thrown in the dryer. I learned this hack over a decade ago and it still works! 😉

Here in my country I thrift online because there are no such large physical thrift stores, also I do it by material: cotton, flax, wool, ramie, silk, etc. I have a lot of trouble with finding well-fitting pants. QUESTION: Sarah what do you do with clothes you have worn for a day, but don't need to be washed before you wear them again? Eg a cardigan, or maybe some shorts you put on for the morning because you thought it was going to be hot, but then changed to pants for the afternoon to go out. What would you do with the shorts? Asking because you are an organised person and also a clean person, and I am really stuck with what to do with my and my husbands worn clothes. We put them on a chair in the bedroom but after a while it gets out of hand to the point you cant even see the chair anymore and we forget what's on the bottom of the pile. Love Martha

To get stains out, I use hydrogen peroxide and dawn dish soap. I store and mix them in a large hydrogen peroxide bottle. I do add a spray bottle top.

This is a little off topic, but I was inspired recently by Parisienne Farmgirl to dress up my fridge a little to sort of extend the 'cozy', so I got a cute little linen lined basket to put my eggs in and I love it! Do much nicer than how egg cartons look, and then I can recycle the cartons and they won't get all gross with used egg shell and such.
