It’s clear that the school is chaotic to the point where they have no more control over the kids. That happens when kids are allowed to get away with things time after time to the point where schools become a circus.

I'm shocked the school allowed physical assaults too, I hope those kids were suspended at the very least. The best thing a kid can do if they see another kid being bullied is to simply tell the bullies to leave that kid alone or stand up for them in some other way and maybe try to be their friend. I've seen it work. A parent or teacher could say something over and over and the bully won't care, but if another kid says something, it can be so helpful. It may not always help, but a lot of times it does. Parents and teachers can encourage this too. My heart is broken for this beautiful family, I hope they find peace.

All schools talk "zero tolerance" concerning bullying. There are assemblies, and posters are plastered everywhere. But it seems that little to no actual *action* ever takes place when the rules are violated. This is outrageously tragic. And so many commenters blaming the parents, or telling them to homeschool or move away, or whatever - this is not the answer. Bullies will continue to the next child and the next, unabated. The school has a responsibility for the safety and well-being of every student in their charge. We don't need to blame the victims, who have suffered horrendously and will be blaming themselves enough for eternity; when it is not their fault. As a former educator and a mother and now grandmother, I know we must demand REAL accountability at every level of the school system. I wish strength and courage to Sammy's family. If there is clear evidence that someone took their life due to abuse. The abuser should be held responsible. These kids should not be allowed to attend school. Let them be home school. The city/state should however provide required mental counseling to these kids to find out why they abused this young boy, make sure there isn't abuse at home, and to help direct them into a non-violent life. School admins who didn't do anything should be held accountable and lose their jobs. Small price after this family lost their son. Maybe more schools would do something if they knew they would be held responsible. All schools should have a contingency plan on what to do and how to handle school bullies. It's 2024. How many times have we been through this? Why are these kids still allowed to attend school?? And they're bullying another kid. Suspend the bullies. Let them be home-schooled until they know how to behave and treat others. And send them to mental health counseling. The victim should receive free mental health counseling too. The trouble is not with these boys, it's with these bullies. Thank you News Nation for covering this story so closely. i was horribly bullied as a child, to the point i was hospitalized 3 times before high school. it happened for YEARS. police did nothing, the other parents did nothing, the school did nothing. I survived it but it affected me in profound ways. fast forward to last year. when I beat my roomate to within an inch of his life for trying to bully and attack me. my message to kids being bullied is simple. defend yourself by any means necessary, learn to defend yourself, chances are you won't be smaller than the bullies once you reach adulthood. sometimes, unfortunately, violence is the only answer. if your parents are trying to teach you to never use violence, they are simply mistaken, bullies only understand when you beat their ass. this school's administrators and staff should ALL be held accountable, sometimes inaction is a crime. the bullies also need to be charged with their crimes. not just let them keep doing what they're doing.

It's not that simple. I was bullied for much of my time in school. Thing is, it wasn't one bully - it was usually a group of them. Any effort on my part to fight back would have ended very badly for me, and the bullies wouldn't have been held accountable. In fact, I'm pretty sure they'd have suspended me as the aggressor, even if I was defending myself. I wasn't taught any sort of non-violence, but if it's you against a group, self preservation kicks in.

Hello, my name is Laurajane, and I'm from New Zealand. May I please offer you my most sincere condolences. I understand exactly how you feel because I went through the same thing when I was at school sixty years ago. Bullying is totally unnecessary and abhorrent. No one deserves that.

Poor poor child 😔🙏🕊 and prayers to his family, whom i know are getting the blame but the blame belongs to the grade schools officials that should have taken more seriously and the parents of the children bullying.

My friend's niece was bullied. She then proceed to her niece's school and waited outside and as soon as my friend spotted the kid who bullied her niece, she charged straight at the kid (less than 10 yo) and gave that kid two big slap on the face, and then dashed away like wind. It happened off the school ground and nobody was able to see it quickly. My friend's niece never got bullied again. It is sad that adults like my friend had to go to such extent to protect her niece.

Something really needs to be done about this . People need to be more sensitive and their not the parents need to be held accountable for their child behavior or at least go into counseling this has to stop somewhere

I am pretty sure there are just really about 5-6 bullies there. School staff must handle them properly with police help.

Schools always know, yet rarely end the bullying. I know of one case; Warren Rongve, a principal of Carpenter High School, Meadow Lake, SK Canada. When told two bullies on the volleyball team had assaulted another, taking his shorts down, rubbing liquid heat on his genitals, to 'welcome' him to the team, Rongve had those two off the team the next day, the coach told he's fired if there's another incident. Should have called the cops in, but even so, that ended the bullying!

Admin and districts aren’t the ones working with the kids directly. Therefore they don’t think it’s their problem b/c it doesn’t affect their daily job. When teachers report the behavior b/c it’s disrupting the class, the school does nothing but send them to the deans office for 15 mins to “cool off”. No consequences no nothing.

@@CamLeighGamer absolutely! I can attest to this from my own experience of school when I was a Kid. then society gets surprised when sometimes some mercilessly bullied Kid, Whom no one has helped, does something to defend Him-/Herself that then lands Him/Her in juvenile prison, and (S)He's labelled as the bad one. but nobody cares to realise that (S)He felt helpless and it was either Him/Her or the bullies. [-You know what I mean. I can't be direct because KZbin would remove my comment.] regards.

What happened to teaching your kids to stand up for themselves?
@khatzeye4 ай бұрын
Thank you! All these people blaming the school yet this boy had a father and he didn’t teach him to fight?? The parents didn’t send the cops to the school or to the parents home? Didn’t remove him from said school? Very little prevention but a whole lot of blame and lack of accountability imo.

If only that schools did something to stop the bullying. Like send all the bullies to the office and have their parents called.

Condolence to the family of Sammy. What a kind kid when I watch this video. In the Philippines a year before the pandemic hundreds of students in schools were bullied by their friends. After all, according to the Department of Education or Deped, they would never allow them to bully their friends or classmates. If one person has been bullied. It would be sad for their child and their experiences 🙁

What a crying shame. If your kids are being bullied daily at school, please please pull them out, then settle situation if you can. Verbal abuse is torture to a child. My son who was sweet and kind got bullied by the tougher guys for years. Your too big, too small, too fat, smart or anything else. The bully's look for a target

schools need to demand that parents attend school with their kids if the kids have been bullying other kids.. people say who will pay for it..or whatever...but I think they would find a way to get the point across that it needs to stop
@irthlingz3 ай бұрын
This is a tragedy. And this sort of thing has been going on for decades. I was bullied in school. I asked my parents if I could see the school psychologist. They said "No, you don't need that. Ignore them and they'll stop." They did stop, after 5 years. After the school shootings in Littleton, CO, I wrote a song called "If They Had Asked Me" about this ongoing problem. You can find the song online. I teach social-emotional skills, but it's very hard to get that kind of program into the schools.
