35:34 - 37:04 Hey, no, do not lump Valerian with After Earth. Yes, Luc Besson tried to condense many years of story and continuity into a single movie much like Shyamalan himself tried with the live action Airbender movie, but the visuals and story of the City of a Thousand Planets could've worked if A, they had spaced it into a live action series instead of one movie, and B, they had casted better actors in the role of Valerian and Laureline. I know some people like Dane Dehaan and/or Cara Delevingne in some media, but I didn't buy once they played a duo of space warriors with years of chemistry and love from working together. Luc Besson has made great films like Leon the Professional, The Family, Lucy, and my favorite of his, The Fifth Element. It would be interesting to see him tackle a television show.

One of the other things to keep in mind is while the actors on Star Trek make it sound like they understand what they're talking about one of the reasons they are able to make it sound like that way is that the writers at least did do some research on actual science to an extent so even if the actors don't know what they're talking about they're at least able to sound like that due to the writing and direction Will Smith has clearly didn't do any research wail writing list

No offense Nate but why didn't you put unbreakable on there it's such a good movie in my opinion
@sebastianemond53136 ай бұрын
Probably because he'd have to include Split and Glass, since Unbreakable is now part of a trilogy. I know many were let down by Glass, and I'll admit, I was too, but the more I look at how cinematic universes are failing recently with Marvel and DC, I'm kinda glad we got this "limited series" world that'll only exist in spirit rather than be overstuffed and ruined by social/political issues over good stories. Who knows? Maybe someday, someone might continue the Eastrail 177 world in comics instead of as a movie or show.

Glass may be flawed, but I'm actually kinda glad their world continues only in spirit rather than getting ruined like current cinematic universes are these days with their later dumba-s phases, prioritizing social/politicsl issues over good story and character, or just relying on demographic chart numbers to get people hooked on their products.

Shyamalan way of directing actors and story has always left me puzzled. I thought lady in water looked very cheap for a modern fantasy type of film and the actors respond to his directing so weirdly it’s hard to tell how it was supposed to feel.

@sebastianemond53136 ай бұрын
I still like Signs (2002). Even though it's not scary, I don't think it was meant to be entirely. I think this was Shyamalan attempting, like the magazines were saying, to do a Spielberg-esque movie, with heart and emotion, like E.T. or Close Encounters of the Third Kind. Those movies had kinda intense, somewhat eerie moments, but they weren't meant to be scary alien movies. Signs is much like those films, but with bizarre performances from the extras and scenes that defy logic, like the twist involving water hurting the aliens, begging the question, why would aliens vunerable to water invade a planet *that's 71 percent water??*

Signs. scared at first, but much later on, the film actually sucks. i'm sorry, i will never understand why ppl like it. i'm with Doug on that one. The Village. crap Lady in the Water. crap, but i can see why Doug enjoys that one. he considers it his #1 bad shyamalan film fave. The Happening. crap, but it did give us the mark wahlberg meme moment. The Last Airbender movie. for anyone not liking the netflix live action tv version, it's mid at best imho and still miles ahead better than the 2010 shyamalan dumpster fire. Devil. despite decent acting, pacing and cinematography, shyamalan's script, twist ending and movie title ruins it. it's a cluster mess. After Earth. equally terrible as Last Airbender movie. The Visit. good welcome back, shyamalan. Split. nice Glass. mid at best imho. Old. idk, but much rather read the french-language swiss graphic novel 'Sandcastle' it's based from. Knock at the cabin. i have book, but idk. Trap. tbd
