In an interview, Ricky said this scenario actually happened to him and in his head he responded as he does in this scene, but in reality he just politely said oh ok and had something from the adult menu and then left half of it.

tbh his character is actually wrong in this, and that's the art and the true meaning of this scene. it is absolutely a concession that it's cheaper for kids lol, the point of this scene is that he attacks her for no real reason over it, and it's something that he knows he's wrong about too. all the comments here seem to have missed how that was the point of this scene lol. his character hates life at this point in the series, so even when a restaurant makes a concession (a sale at loss) for kids, instead of seeing that as good, he still hates it anyway. it's such a non-thing to be mad about and it's edited in a way so as the viewer, you're supposed to hate the woman, but the real message here is that he's the one in the wrong

I don’t get that system. If you’re not too hungry, you want a smaller portion and the kid’s meals are smaller portions, so you should just order that portion. Plus, a fiver just for kid’s fish finger meal is pricey already, how much would it be for an adults? I just think you shouldn’t be restricted on what you eat when your an adult customer and paying. That’s ageism.
@Cesarhbb.4 жыл бұрын
Liam Gradwell lmao not ageism i would say. They just trynna rake in more profits by forcing ppl to pay more than they would have to
@MishMash954 жыл бұрын
Yeah, seems a bit ridiculous.. I could understand it when places have highly subsidised kids meals, i.e. when they are like < £2.99 and not profitable for the company, with the condition that you only get the discount with purchase of an adults meal, but £4.99 for that is a joke :P (obviously a sketch but based on real life). -- It would make more sense to offer something that was profitable to some extent, as obviously you could just go into a cafe and have a coffee, you would still be welcome but taking up a table, even if you didn't order food. They just wouldn't be making as much money. I quite like it when places have small plates/portion options for that reason. The other thing people sometimes do is share a portion, e.g. sharing a panini between two. I've seen loads of adults do this. I actually got quite annoyed at my Dad for ordering a panini to share, when they were only £2.99 :P

Wife and I wandered into a cafe in the Isle of Wight about 15 years ago. It was about 3.00 p.m. As we're vegetarians, we thought it safe to just ask for beans on toast. 'Can't do that' says the owner, 'As it's past two o'clock - that's a lunchtime thing'. So I say, 'Ok, can you do toast?' The owner says yes. So I ask if they can put a side order of beans on the plate. The owner says yes. So I tell him to do that and we'll fork the beans onto the toast. It was really bizarre. It didn't put us off the IoW, which is lovely, but we never went back to that cafe.
