All of this is subjective, and ultimately if you are excited by the guitar, that's what you should do. For me, I don't love the white body with the light blue pickguard and the aged white component plastics. I personally think the mix of white and off-white isn't great, but that was Fender's decision ultimately. The light blue adds to that mix of not-quite-white blend that's going on, and I've never been a fan of that for my own instruments. If it were me, I would be getting either matching white pickguard covers, or finding a really high contrast color for those parts. But also, this isn't my guitar, it's your guitar. And if you're excited by your guitar, I'm happy to see the mod.

If it was me, I’d put on a tortoiseshell pickguard-I love white Fenders with tortoiseshell-and where your killswitch is I’d have a strangle switch. That blank mirror plate is crying for some switches or controls-maybe a rhythm circuit, or even better, a phase switch, with a blend control to pan between the pickups, which can really change the out-of-phase sounds depending on the balance of the pickups-and maybe a series-parallel switch. Or a boost with a level control-or a compressor, if there’s room for a battery.
@ivanmaguina49743 күн бұрын
Excellent modification. Maybe you could for the next one, instead of the blank top plate, put a plate with an interuptor like the Jaguar American Pro has, and a 3 position switch at the bottom like the Jaguar Johny Marr. Thank you.🎸👍

Hi Ryan. I really like your videos. It has to be said, I really like what you've done with that Jaguar. She's a beaty. I might get one of those switches for my Classic Vibe Jazzmaster. Thanks for being one of the good guys.

RYAN! PERFECT OPPORTUNITY! I've been toying with the idea of Jagbuckers, basically two Jaguar pickups smacked up against each other wired like a humbucker. My Fax Guitars/Height Coyote basically has that in a slightly more spread out configuration. If I can figure out the design of the combined cover I'll 3D print some and send them your way!

Way better after. Though I think I personally would swap the cream pickup covers with white or maybe black for contrast. Super cool.

Looks great! I recently used some Rock Rabbit hardware - JagMarr layout - to mod my own Jaguar. Replaced the upper controls - rhythm switch and rollers with a series switch and a Master Strangle. Angled Wronski 3-way switch on the lower. All the sounds are great and it just works for me. Cheers!

Very cool about the switch plate being able to mount without kludging. If I got one of these, it’d be the Cobain plate, a Switchblade 3x3 toggle, and a strangle switch.

You did exactly what I thought of by making the slider a toggle for a kill switch. I thought I wasn't going to like the blue pickguard, but it actually looks pretty good.

Glaciuar! 🏔Loving color combo. Reminds me of Ringo Deathstar/Elliott Frazier's white Jazzmaster with a cyan aluminum pickguard. There aren't enough nonstandared color guards in use out there. I've been wanting a "clown barf" confetti one for a long time but the material is either hard to find in large enough sheets or you have to order a ton of it 😞Thought about asking Decoboom if they could or would ever consider making a version of the old Teisco floral vine pickguards too. Always loved those, and all the color possibilities could be really fun.

Make the instrument your own! =) My preference is for a 4-pole 5-way switch wired with series and out of phase like StewMac's "Wiring diagrams for Telecaster Super Switch mod". I like my pickup connection to be selected all in one switch. I then save extra switches for series/parallel humbuckers or humbucker coil swapping.

I think it would look cool if you swapped all the plastics (besides the pickguard) to match the cream coloured pickups. Cream knobs, cream tuning keys, you can even get white slider switches (which quickly turn to beige) and cream pickup selector switch. It would kind of lean into the vintage vibe and brighten up the look a bit.

Fun video! This answers my question as to getting a Classic Vibe now or waiting a bit for a Player (I have a Meteora to sell), besides your other video on the topic. My only complaint on this mod is that the yellowy pickups kinda clash with the blue imho, but then again they also tie in the headstock so that’s good too. Here’s a question: are those new plates nickel plated? You mention chrome but I thought the Jags have nickel hardware ( I’ve had to match countless bathroom and kitchen fixtures so I know you don’t want to mix nickel and chrome-picky picky picky!!). Also…heheh love that lil bit of King Missle at the end. That got me riled up to make one of these XD

I know it's about the project. I'm more about the project than I am about playing personally. But just for general info for whoever. If you have a glossy pickguard, or if you feel like the poly on your guitar is too shiny, some fine steel wool will take that shine off without messing anything up really.

Kind of sad to see there's no top routes for the mod switching, if one would like to add them....sigh...the Squier CV Jags are still the more Jagman's Jags. Cheaper with a couple of upgrades they can still be better for less cashola. Awesome vid and love the look of the finished guitar.

i dont know if i'd have gone with that particular color for the pickguard, but i also can't think of what i'd go with instead.... it's still cool. i swapped a pickguard on my CV jazz, and the bridge post holes didn't exactly line up, but i just ignored it because it didnt effect functionality of anything, and you can't tell when the bridge is in. swapping out the pickguards surely is the easiest funnest way to customize guitars.
