I’m definitely not afraid of heat damage lol. I switch between straight hair natural and curls. If I get damage and I want to wear my curls then I either grow it out or cut it off immediately. I went a bit crazy this time and I cut my hair from mid back to shoulder length. I still take care of my hair when it’s straight so it’s not a big deal. Plus sometimes my curly hair is really draining and straightening it is better than a relaxer again. Hair will grow back and I believe that it shouldn’t have be someone’s identity :)

Also as a stylist, u won't get heat damage from applying heat every now and then. The heat damage comes from applying heat daily or several times a week amd not using protective products when using heat. You'll be fine hun to increase the heat to even a 375 or 400 so that it will last longer.

You did a great job straightening your hair. The fact that it reverted so easily means you used the correct temperature and heat protecting products. There's an incredibly expensive hair dryer out there that's supposed to dry the hair straight without a lot of heat by pulling the water out. Maybe you can borrow one of those for the next time you try to straighten your hair since buying one outright wouldn't be practical if you're only using it once in awhile, but it's a thought that could cut down on the heat risk.

If your hair straightened well off of the previous temperature, you definitely don't need to go higher. You might even be able to go lower! The biggest tip I've seen is to limit the amount of hot-comb/flat-iron passes over each section. If you can get it straight in 1 single pass over the hair section, that is ideal. 2 isn't too bad, but every additional pass adds a higher risk of damage, no matter how much product you currently have in your hair. Good luck!

Just not what it's supposed to be so now I can't wear my hair out because of the vastly different curl patterns happeningvon my head, I was tempted to burn the right side of my head so it can atleast be uniform 😭... if you're why the right side is differe t it's because the flat iron turned off and I didn't notice

I’m not afraid of heat damage. I’ve been a “straight” natural for 10+ years. I don’t wear my hair naturally curly often because I have to do my hair every couple of days to refresh the style (I tried being naturally curly). When I straighten my hair it’s lasts (for the most part) for a couple of weeks, even with the humidity where I live. My roots get curly in that time though not jus from humidity, but I sweat on my scalp now (over 30 woes 😩). I experience a little heat damage over time, but I also keep my ends clipped and I’m not afraid to do a big chop for no reason.

If you got the results you wanted from the heat level you chose, then it should be fine! When I used the comb at like level 4 instead of 5, I got a result similar to a blow-dry, so the 2nd time around I used the highest heat level (410 degrees). My hair did take a little longer to revert (30 min deep condition instead of 5 min), but I had no heat damage. I also just am not as afraid of heat as I used to be. Not necessarily in a "it's just hair hair kind of way" but in a "wow this monstrosity is very resilient." That and the comb is less direct heat than a flat iron. Caveat: when my hair was bleached/dyed, it was way less resilient lol. But I also didn't use olaplex then so 🤷♀️

It was healthier then it ever been but I had no clue how to care for it. I was used to a plain shampoo, some heavy conditioner and go. Now it was frizz frizz everywhere. I let a stylist friend of mine talk me into letting her straiten it.... yeah big mistake. I think she felt because my hair was a course texture she could get away with high heat, or maybe her hair was fine with those heat lvls so she did think about it IDK. My hair was fried, limp, and never reverted. Few weeks later it was breaking off I lost 5 inches in length. While I had no hard feelings, it was hair and she learn an import lesson it took a while to grow back. I had to learn a different hair care routine to control frizz, co-wash all the way baby, but my hair is back to full mid shoulder blade length. I have big beautiful curls all summer and soft waves in the winter... and if I ever feel the itch for strait hair I'll go wash my hair in the awful well water at my folks place. lol

The ponytail is the secret😉 it prevents the humid air from reaching most of your hair strands. It is custom in my country to wear your hair straightened through high school and I suffered barely any heat damage through the year. A ponytail + sealant keeps the moisture/ humidity away. Also back then, we'd rarely do full silk presses. Only rich kids could afford them and their hair paid for it so there's that.
