My grandfather had a weird will. He remarried in the 70s. They wrote it a few years into their marriage. Everything that belonged to one or the other before their marriage would go to their respective children. Anything that was purchased together would be split 50/50 to each group of heirs. There was also a weird exception. That his wife could not pass away in the month after his passing. She passed away last year more than a decade after he passed. She was the best grandma.

I hear and understand you because I went through the same thing: My mom and birth father getting married, divorcing, my mom and I leaving him to move elsewhere, etc. My dad died in 2021 and I had inherited a few things from him. I had to lock my bedroom door when I was not at home because of my niece stealing things from me. You could have called an Uber cab and/or asked a friend to take you to work. I would also recommend that you do a DNA test to find out who your father is, so that you can meet him if you two agree to do that. I am glad that everything turned out in the end.
