Damn, my first nugget came with an extension cable like that. Being a rube, I thought it was necessary for connection. One day my guitar teacher plugged the nugg directly into his computer and blew my mind. Nugget's long gone, but still got the cable to this day, driving a 4 port hub still keeping up with USB 2.0 speeds perfectly fine.

i never understood how after all these years, of mp3 players that refuse to turn on or operate without USB but stuck in a pc sync only mode, why havent you bothered to use a power only USB cable.. as obviously some of these players over the years work off usb power so if you remove the data capabilities from the equation, there's a possiblily you can get these players to work, especially the ones with cooked batteries. just take any random usb cable, cut back the sheath and just snip the 2 data cables (white &green).
