Years ago I had a player of exactly the same design, but in red and from a different company. And since it had a more sophisticated battery eject function, a bigger display and multi color backlight I assume it was the thing the Craig is replicating. Oh, it also had a metal shell instead of sprayed plastic. SD card slot and not being one of the usual stick-nuggets was pretty much my reason to get it. Served me well for many years. Sadly I can't remember the model name or the exact brand, but I've been looking for one for a while now.

You’re finally covering a vintage nugget that I used to have! This was my first mp3 player that I got for Christmas in 2005 (an iPod was on the wish list and my parents were like, “yep, same thing, better price!”). Could not load mp3s on to it. Could not get the family PC to recognize it as anything other than a picture drive. I listened to the radio or, if I got lucky, a decent enough recording of a song from a stereo that I was able to record from the device itself (awful mic).
