You have no idea how much I have enjoyed the videos of your AT journey. I will be re-watching the entire series soon. You asked about ideas for videos. I would love to see a tent review of the tent you used, including set up, features (like gear loft or pockets, vestibules etc). Also a video comparing your ideas of what you thought the AT would be like and what it really turned out to be. Another one could be on do's and don'ts of the trail, what worked & what didn't. Personally I would like to know what it was like meeting, camping & hiking with others that you met.I have so much respect and admiration for the grit that you showed to see your dream through to the end. I was so excited to see you on top of Katahdin! Thanks so much for sharing with us.

So glad you're going to continue with videos - after you reached Katahdin, I was thinking, "Oh no, another friend I'll never hear from again." - But not true! yay! Because yes, even though you don't know me, I feel like we're friends just from spending time "together" every week all summer!

Hi, I arrived at your channel and one of your more recent video after falling down the the KZbin recommended rabbit hole. I decided to start from the beginning so I have just watched your AT journey. I know I’m writing from the future and from here in the U.K. but I wanted to congratulate you, it has been a joy to watch 👍. I’m looking forward to watching your upcoming videos.

Whitney! what an amazing job you did with the editing...! that was boss. No, I can't begin to imagine the hours you put into that. There must be oodles of supplementary footage to put together a kind of 1/2 hr overview end-to-end with some funny bloopers and stuff. Dixie, your VO2Max must be awesome now! Thanks for every minute..... yeah! Triple Crowner..

I just finished watching your full trip and just wanted to say thanks for taking us along with you on your adventure. I've done lots of canoe/hiking trips in NH & ME but never more than a week. I'd love to do the AT but with young kiddos it probably won't happen for a few more years. I'm looking forward to it though! Thanks again!

I'd I'd like to see some videos of gardening/composting, etc. Also I hope you do the PCT. if you're ever wanting a shorter hike. The foothills trail in South Carolina is pretty cool. My wife and I are gonna do it the first week of April. Also the Bartram Trail in Ga I'd another nice hike. Thanks for letting us tag along during your adventures. Can't wait for more.

Dixie, I'm happy to hear that you and Whitney plan to continue this "KZbin thing" that you guys are doing. I enjoyed your AT videos. You have a personality that is genuine and easy-going and that is nice to see, especially since our world is filled with so many negatives. I will be looking forward to your future videos. As for suggestions, how about: video segments that didn't make the "cut", like out-takes/bloopers, a guide to what it takes to thru-hike a long trail (planning, money, resupplies, etc), a breakdown of all the gear you used during you AT hike.
@TALL1FU499 жыл бұрын
You can always do the AT again,but going from Maine to Georgia. Then there is the PCT trail,but have more water storage and a Umbrella. It gets hot out there.

Dixie, you're looking great. So glad to see you are still putting out videos. Keep'em coming. Still would love to her about the times you were by yourself on the tail. Also I see many of us have asked you questions on your journey, can you answer some? Thank you.

Just keep shooting videos straight from the hip and let us stay updated what´s going on in your life and in your mind. For me it´s not about what you do...it´s more about who you are...so keep on keeping on ;) Thank you so much for sharing your videos.

+Chiller Kalle What Chiller said. Also, it seems that a lot of the common problems that people have on the AT is feet problems. If you could talk about your experiences and the experiences of others about what works and what didn't work, like certain shoes, sealskinz sox, or anything like that. Anything about clothing or equipment for that matter. Any advice or information would be great. I really enjoyed all of the videos that you and Whitney brought us. Thank you both.

If you were really crazy(and rich), you could hop a plane ride to New Zealand and do the Te Araroa trail. 1800 miles thru The Lord of the Rings land. It is the season to go. Other than that, if you do have tickets for the Iron Bowl, I think a lot of folks would like to see what that's all about. But just keep postin' and we'll keep watchin'.

Thanks!! I watched all your videos and really liked what the two of you have done. I just started backpacking this year and have done the Foot Hills trail twice this year and I'm planning my third trip.Took me 4 days to recover from a 4 day trip! I am a cold sleeper and I don't get how you manage the cold nights. Or how you stay dry when you set up camp in the rain at night. Or how you sleep comfortably on a skimpy pad? And what were those pants you had on as you got to Katahdin? Man, that cold weather is something I would like to master. And how you managed to say so little when surely you had to be having a lot of pain? It's a guy thing to sound off when we are in pain. Anyway, loved the videos. Can't wait to watch your next major hike and pick up on what I can learn from them. :)

Hey Dixie, Great video and I'm glad you're going to continue them in the future! Whitney, fantastic job on all your work editing and posting all the videos! I'd like seeing a post gear review, those are usually informative... to know what worked for others. Also would like to hear about the Fam and how they all did. Did you like your tent and did you have any problems with it? It's one I'm looking at.

The best part of your past videos is your personal style and outlook on what you are doing. Among many AT videos, yours was enjoyable because you showed the easy and hard, sunny and rainy, ups and downs, and maintained a positive attitude throughout it. KZbin has lots of videos on almost every subject. But making them personal makes them stand out. For instance with camping, working in favorite gear, the meals you are eating, different sites you set up in, and what you think of the things you see, lots of details. I suspect many of your subscribers watch to se how you, particularly, do the activity, rather than information on the activity itself. Perhaps an additional friend in the video would give a setting that is more natural and conversational. Your viewers have an interest in the outdoors, and canoeing, kayaking, sailing, windsurfing, or anything you want to try will be good. If you have no expertise, no big deal. People enjoy learning along with you. I myself would also be interested in some "how to" videos on editing videos Florida has a kayak trail for its entire coast, and a hiking trail that winds through most of the state. Alabama has some excellent areas that you know but the rest of us don't. But there are fields other than camping too. I would like to see a video of "Dixie does the Floribama" or perhaps a series on the other great watering holes of the Gulf Coast. I enjoy watching an honest presentation of good people having a good time, or as Hemmingway described it "A good story, well told". Good luck with your coming projects.

Loved following you on the trail! I've heard Georgia is one of the harder parts of the trail. Is this true? I am from Cali and hiked parts of the PCT, and thought the northern part of the AT trail would be harder. Thanks!
@november1519569 жыл бұрын
+Denise Kruesi I live in Northeast Georgia near the AT and have done the Georgia section three times. I recently finished North Carolina and Tennessee. In my opinion North Carolina is harder than Georgia or Tennessee. Many thru-hikers feel Georgia is harder because they have not gotten their "trail legs" yet and are not in shape. If you compare the trail profiles of Georgia and North Carolina you can see at a glance that North Carolina is more difficult.

I agree with the rest of the viewers. AT info while its fresh on your mind would be great. -I think a dedicated and titled video of your gear would be a great way to go. -Do a video announcing a Q&A coming up so everyone can ask questions. -Whitney could do a video editing tutorial. -Discussing how you to shared info & files. The collaboration process. -I think anything fun that the two of you do would be a good topic. Keepin topics to something you're into would keep the videos from feeling forced. You have a great natural youtube presence so go with your gut and your own interests. We will probably follow along as we've gotten to know you.
