4 - Really solid game but for reasons X or Y, I'm just not willing to give it my top score. Almost always a game I'm adding to my collection.

I started watching your videos when you were recoving from covid. At that time you had terrible lighting, a shit camera and no idea how to be in front of a camera. You have grown, learned, and improved so much since then. You now have a mastery of hosting (Pulling in the guest, helping and boosting them) and a real comfort level being in front of the camera.

As someone who has the game and has played it a lot, I can clear up a few things that were mentioned in this video: - This game does NOT feel at all like Galaxy Trucker. Your castle will take some hits throughout the game, but nothing like the wanton destruction that happens to the ships in Galaxy Trucker. Also, you are in control of how much you invest in defense of your castle, versus how much you are investing in building your wealth. There is a ton of strategy here with a dash of unpredictability in the tower defense portion of the game. Also, there are Move tokens you can get which allow you to reposition some of your troops after all of the invaders have been revealed, helping to mitigate some of the unpredictability of combat. - An official solo mode is available for purchase in the GameFound campaign running right now. I've been playtesting it for months; it's really good! It's win/lose against a deck-controlled AI opponent. - The flags for surviving combat in the lead position are nothing to sneeze at. Scores in this game are often pretty close; those flag points can't be lost and don't count into your gold total, so you are banking end-game points that didn't cost resources to get, and don't hurt you in future combats. - The 2-player experience is awesome! You are directly competing with the other player for those combat flags, which represent 13 points. In a game where the winning score is around 45, getting more of those 13 points than your opponent is huge. It brings another layer of strategy into play that isn't quite as important with 3-4 players. - There are a surprising number of strategies to pursue in this game. I've played games without ever hiring a single soldier, while other games I've hired 10 soldiers. I've gone all stone castle, no stone, a wood/stone mix, early turrets, very few turrets, heavy farm protection, no farm protection, lots of scouting, never scouting, etc. Lots of interlocking aspects to play with here. - Alex's review summary is spot on: this is a mix of known mechanics that feels really fresh, is spot on thematically, and works really, really well. Even the combat resolution is very thematic and sensible. I highly recommend trying the game on Tabletop Simulator to see if you like it, then go get a copy in the GameFound campaign. Don't miss out!
