I had owned Yeti SB100 for two years. I can honesty say that that I never had any noise coming from switch infinity. I have sold the bike since I'm upgrading to the bigger travel. But Yeti sb100 was the best bike I have ever owned. In the past I had trek, specialized, Giant, cannonade, bmc, evil. This bike had improved me as a rider a lot. I had almost 0 maintenance with this bike. All I had to do is to grease switch infinity once every 3 months, sent fork, shock and dropper post for service once a year.

I really appreciate this kind of review. They put all that marketing hype into a product and then it’s replaced with something new 12 months later and forget about last years model. It’s good to see how the product has stood up against the new trends. Personally, I’d take the SB115 or the SB100 if I have access to parts to maintain them. Both are dream bikes for me and I don’t need a lot of travel. Makes the bike more fun. Nice video.

The only thing that gave me issue was aligning it correctly to the middle of the frame and sanding some of the inside for the cup to fit... This is a game changer for sure, I feel as confident descending with almost minimal impact to this bike's climbing ability. I did not notice any changes in my reach, went with a - 1.5 and in my opinion it's perfect. Gone is the twitchy feeling front that I had before.... Well worth it and in my opinion yeti should have made it this way from the start... It's a completely different and better handling bike now

I tried so hard to make that bike work for me but could not get past the plagued switch infinity. After 2 frames and multiple switch replacements/services I finally gave up and sold my replacement frame on pinkbike. I have loved the switch infinity platform on all of the other bikes in the lineup, but there are major issues with it on quite a few sb100 frames. The way Yeti handled it was somewhat disappointing as well but I don’t want to start on that. I hope you nothing but luck with that frame because it really is a trail ripper.

Nice video as always! Wanted to gauge your thoughts on the following: Since my riding style is like yours; not into jumping, I prefer long distance, climbing and technical trails. I have a SB4.5 stock and love the light weight upgrades you made to the SB100. What would happen if you did the same to the sb4.5? Would you recommend to invest in similar upgrades to my bike? Buy SB100 / SB115 /SB130? The only reason I have the SB130 on here is I'm a heavy rider 220lbs and have listened to you say that heavier riders should add spacers or upgrade to fox 36 140/150mm or get a bigger bike like the SB130. Great video! Thank you so much for making it. I actually bought the SB100 this Fall after trying the Blur, Epic Evo, Tallboy, Epic, and other hardtails, and I really like it. I bought the C1 model and I have been thinking about changing the suspension. I looked at the SID and after watching this video I may look into it a bit more. I am also looking at the NOBL TR32 and different hub options. How do you like the NOBLs?? I am torn between these and the Enve M525. It's fair to say that wheelset, tires, suspension, and cockpit will be my next upgrades. I am looking to get around 26-27lbs from the close to 29 I think the bike weights, and being mostly a roadie I want to keep this bike trail capable but mostly cross country (ish?). I see Revel bikes sporting the Dissector/Rekon combo but I am looking into the Rekon/Rekon or Rekon/Rekon Race. Again, thanks for the video! I could talk to you about all these gear choices/upgrades for hours.

A light wheelset is your best bang/buck. The TR32's look rad, same width as the 32's but lighter. Match them with a lightweight hub and you're good to go!

​@@mtbsavant5414 Thanks for the reply! The TR32 is 1mm less wide (internal) on the back and I talked to NOBL and they said the 32s were more compliant (25%). Given that I don't think I will use a tire over 2.4 in the back I should be fine with 26mm. I looked at the DT180 hubs to get the lightest set up possible but I really really like the Onyx for their silent performance (and they're based in Minnesota where I live). Unfortunately they're the opposite of light, although they don't add rotational weight. I thought the I9 Hydras would be a good compromise between light and engagement performance albeit fairly loud. @@jsasa5668 IMO unless you're smashing this bike on big rocks, a tr32 wheelset with 180 hubs and lightweight spokes would be killer on this bike. Had I not already had my 33 wheelset (which is 4 yrs old) I would have gone this route. I have 180 hubs on another wheelset and they're very quiet with some dt grease in them

I like to stay on the ground for the most part and our terrain here in MN is mostly hardpack with some roots and rocks in some areas (Cuyuna, Duluth) but I don't ride "enduro style aggressive" but more like XC. Your comment is probably what I needed. DT180s may not be as cool looking as others, or as customizable with colors, but I may be going this route! Thanks a lot! Cheers! I own a Yeti ASRc and love it, but really wonder if all the weight and complexity of the InfinityLink is worth it. I mean you get a floating pivot that is a maintenance issue and substantial replacement expense for what exactly? Not entirely sure what that little bit of play adds to the handling/feel of the bike. I have a 2021 140mm Fox 36 Grip2 on my SB115. I had a 2021 Fox 140mm Fox 34 Grip2, but it was not supple at the beginning of the stroke and was too flexy. I'm wondering, if I slacken the HTA it would push the weight distribution more forward, and return the BB height closer to original design spec.

Well yes and no. Keep in mind the SlackR kit adds 10mm of axle to crown length as well which means it would almost be like running a 150mm fork. However the good news is that pushing out the front wheel mostly offsets the additional stack height since it lowers the front end as well. I'd give it a go and see if you like it, and if it feels too high then you could get a 130mm air spring. I don't feel pitched forward at all with the angleset. In fact it makes me feel more centered and gives me the opposite net effect. Nothing we're doing it permanent so I encourage you to experiment and find what works for you!

I prefer the SB100 because I'm a fan of the new SID suspension, but if I had an SB115 complete I'd swap to a lighter wheelset and tires, drop the air spring to 120mm and pick up the SlackR kit and at that point it's really close!

Yes in principle the Geoshift obtains the same result but it's designed for bikes with traditional press in cup headets. Some newer bikes have what's called IS headsets which doesn't use press in cups, but rather the bearings sit right on top of the carbon, so pre-SlackR kit there was no way to slacken the HTA for these bikes.

Can you confidently recommend the angle-set headset for this SB100?? I’m pretty dissatisfied with the SB100 and the 130fork I have fitted to it climbing wise and the HA angle and forgiveness I was hoping for with the longer fork on the downs.. didn’t quite make it much more confident & if anything took it out of balance a bit more then I hoped.. I’m thinking maybe go back to the 120mm fork & put the Angleset on & just get a better rear shock or have the current one rebuilt at full flow

Yeah dude, highly recommended however the catch is you have to have 20mm of extra steerer tube to make it happen. The kit adds some stack to the front end however that's mostly offset by the fact slackening out the bike also lowers it. I'm stoked on this bike with 120mm of travel especially since we both have bigger bikes too :)

@@mtbsavant5414 awesome I dont run a slammed stem and like at bit of height under the 120 fork.. the 130 fork has me running maybe 6mm spacers under the stem so I think it’s too high anyway with 130, so 120 will keep it balanced a bit better perhaps.. just want that 66degree angle instead of the knife like 67.5! Yes the Mega is unreal with the ZEB and Cascade link & new X2 rear shock! Wow 🤩 Now I just need to figure out how to make the sb100 a bit more comfortable and not crazy XC like

HOLD UP! I went through 2 years of an SB100 and replaced it with an SB115 and I’m now just finding out about SLACK R! More details please. Which setup did you purchase? I’m going to purchase one for my 115. I had offset bushings on my 100 to give me 1 degree but they won’t work on the 115.

Measure your head tube length and check out their web site which will guide you to the parts you need. My size large has 123mm head tube and I ended up getting the "golf" and "mike" kits however both kits share the same bottom piece The Golf will put your bike around 66.2 degrees where the mike will get you just under 66 (around 65.8).

@@tlouie32 HTL is size specific so make sure you have the right number. The Mike actually made the bike slacker than my Spur which I quickly adapted to. The shorter reach wasn't a big deal for me because I sized up to a L on this frame and had plenty of eff reach to give up.

Couple of things. Make sure you have 20mm of extra steerer tube available on your fork. Then you'll need to measure or obtain the head tube length from Yeti's online manual and plug that number into this web site along with your desired angle. @@rivertranced Yes and No. I didn't mention it in the video, but the key to this project was to "upsize" on the older frame to get the numbers to line up with something modern. This size L Yeti now has almost the same numbers my M spur. The angleset does reduce the reach a bit so it could make a short bike even shorter.

Soo many beautiful bikes available but at some point the escalating prices are going to backfire . There are only so many people that are willing or have the finances for these bikes and the companies are not doing themselves any favor by focusing their advertising on the most expensive models and ignoring the mid range bikes which comprise the bulk of their sales . Advertising of course is all about feeding into people's desire for prestige and uniqueness and if the hype is absorbed deep enough into ones heart and mind they will tolerate exorbitant prices , but there IS a limit and i believe that limit has been reached .

Recently picked up a TurQ frame with 34 fork, all kashima etc pretty cheap. Built an slx/xt 12sp DT, wide Spank rims, 800mm carbon bar etc, amazing bike. I do mainly xc and light trail work locally so it’s perfect, can take way more too when I travel elsewhere.

Hello very interesting review. What about a 190 x 42.5 stroke shox in the frame? Will this work? Getting to 113mm of travel then, did anybody tried this before?

Not that I'm aware of. The problem is more with the switch infinity running out of travel before it touches the frame. I would stick to 40mm with the stock link

Oke in a few weeks i will have a 190 x 45 shox to test things. I will post the results then. Also over here in europe the swiss yeti importer has the sb115 linkage for sale. I am looking at a shop that will sell this as a loose part. So maby we can make a sb115 from a sb100 frame.

So i fitted a 190 x 45 shox and the limit is 41mm stroke then the switch hits the end. So keeping it to 40mm stroke.

Lol I work at a Yeti dealer and use the same Italian car analogy when customers ask about them We had a guy get his switch link overhauled at Yeti HQ while in Golden only to have it come loose on the next ride. Hopefully the third iteration of the hardware from the 115 holds up better

Sounds like all ya did is rebuild a 3 years old bike to be your Spur, not really reviewing the bike as she was originally built. Ya can do the same new life to any bike. Mechanically speaking my experience is if you ride a full suspension bike a lot then you better learn to wrench on them because they all have a lot of moving parts and require a fuck ton of maintenance to keep her riding like new. I think the mistake yeti made was to say the sb100 was a xc trail bike which lead people to ride her like a 130mm travel bike rather then a xc bike. The switch link does come loose and all your info on that is spot on but I haven't noticed it coming loose on xc rides only when you treat her like an All Mountain Ride. Its super easy to check . just a few minutes while lubing the chain

The SB100 geometry is just to short and steep for me. I'm into short-travel bikes but not XC geo. I hope Yeti updates the geo on the on the SB100/115 soon. Give me a 76* STA, a 65* HTA, and a long reach. Making long slack bikes is something Yeti does well. Otherwise, I wouldn't buy one. The Spur is far superior to the SB100/115.

I used to think that way too, however the trick with the SB100 is to size UP. My L Sb100 with the angleset has nearly the same geometry as my Medium Spur now in terms of HTA, Reach, CS, and overall wheelbase. The STA is slacker on the Yeti but keep in mind it has less travel and therefore I'm not sagged in as much.

@@mtbsavant5414 I find HTA, STA, and Reach to be a confusing way to describe how progressive the geo of a bike is. Instead, I find front-center to be more useful. The front-center of the size-L Spur is 784mm and size-XL SB100 is 769mm. The size-XL SB100 front-center is 15mm shorter than the size-L Spur which I think is significant. I'm 5'9" and I prefer Trailbikes with a 480-500mm front center. I have no problem sizing-up. If I was going to buy the Epic Evo, I would buy the size-XL with a 789mm front-center. However, If I was going to buy the Stumpjumper, I would buy the size-L with a 796mm front center. The size-XL SB100 doesn't come close to having a long enough front-center for me.

@@jennifersandoval7525 Keep in mind your front center measurement takes into account the HTA as well which the angleset increases pretty significantly. I ride my M spur and L Sb100 back to back and they feel remarkably similar now. I will say the downside to sizing up on older bikes is the increased standover and longer seat tube which limits the dropper length.

No bicycle is worth more than $1000 sorry. No matter what they put on it (unless its an actual motor). Even then, it still wouldn't be worth it. Especially when every brand outsources their frames to be built in China. No regulations means a lot.

Sorry dude your just wrong. There is so much difference in ride quality when you jump from a $1000 bike to a $3000 bike. Most bicycle frames are made in Taiwan btw. You probably aren’t a skilled enough rider to notice the differences of bikes “worth more than $1000”. 😎
