Penetrating from the 2nd line. This second video in the After the Joseki series covers an invasion following the basic joseki shown in the video 'Basic joseki for the 3-4 point #001 The attachment underneath' (link below)
In this video we will look at an invasion on the 2nd line with which you can reduce the opponents potential territory. Master this to make a difference in your real games!

Thank you for this video! The topic was explained in a very straight forward, structured way, so that the main variations remained clear to me in the end of the video! Now I have a solid idea of what to do after my opponent invaded, with all advantages and disadvantages. I would love to see more content like that! Johannes 5k

Thank you again for these videos. I didn't even know about this possibility. In fact, in the starting position, my opponents usually play the invasion at M16 or M17, and I have a hard time dealing with it (mostly because I'm probably doing something wrong...)

I think it would have been nice to explain the timing of the Q16 exchange (the forcing move against the corner before attaching to the invasion stone)

It's fascinating to hear the differences in Michaels voice in different videos. In the videos on this channel where he talks japanese there's a lot of musical cadence and play in his vocal intonations, but in the english videos he sounds almost like a machine, talking in a monotonous stacatto. But then in his Alphago videos with Chris from AGA he talks english but sounds like a human again. Too bad I can't understand japanese, I like the sound of those videos. Hope we get subtitles at some point.

Great! Well explained, thank you. The main variation results in flawless shapes for both sides, where White must be ready to handle all that thickness: no mean task for most amateurs I guess. If White would not like that type of game, he shouldn’t play the one space high approach move, but rather the knight’s approach move, right? Can he get a good enough game that way? Or is it a priority to like and learn how to handle thickness?

Not being an Apple user I can't help you there, so I suggest you carefully read the instructions before you try installing it. github.com/lightvector/KataGo I give monthly lessons to my $50 supporters at Patreon. Why does white exchange Q16 for R17 first in the main variation?
@MichaelRedmondsGoTV
@MichaelRedmondsGoTV 3 жыл бұрын
With the assumption that White will allow Black to connect on the 2nd line as is planned, that exchange reduces Black's corner territory by one point and gives White a small amount of extra strength on the outside.

Would you ever play a live game with someone, commentating on it?

That is in the plan. I am still in the learning curve with this platform that is new to me and trying to set up some basic playlists and a schedule that I can fit into my life. As I get more in control of the whole process I will start thinking of live broadcasts.
