After the Snow: LIRR M3 Railfan window ride from Jamaica to Bellmore

One of the rare ocassions that I was able to film a trip on an M3 from the front window. This was the 3:34pm Train to Wantagh, which left Jamaica on time at 3:56pm. Despite all the problems, the Babylon Branch appeared to be running smoothly. Sadly, as you'll see in the video, we travel past Valley Stream, which has been left with no service since all three branches that serve it were suspended (Far Rock, Long Beach, and W.Hempstead), and we were not diverted to serve them. This train made all its usual stops, Lynbrook, then all stops to Wantagh. I detrained at Bellmore.
The train wasn't too crowded at all, didn't notice any standees. I will sure miss these M3's when they are retired. Budd built some damn good trains! You will notice some Pitch Pines after Merrick, as well what may be some more by Green Acres Mall.

Riding the snowy rails at night with the old M3's was a treat. Snow dust gets kicked up and the pickup shoe arcs against the third rail with the ice and snow intermixing the connection making brilliantly beautiful arcs of lavender plasma in the snow dust. Stunning at 80 mph in the night.

The same path that train is going is were the diesel double decker trains go an come except the fact they run to Montauk

potatothorn Actually I did Jamaica to NHP today. Went with my Dad to his office. Dropped me off at Mass Pk, took an M7 to Jamaica. After picking up some snacks on the upper level, ran into an M3.
