After use review of Abu Garcia 7000c3 catfish special

Hey everyone! I just felt the need to do another review after actually using the reel set up and let me tell you, this reel is AMAZING!

If that reel is like all the older Abu reels with dual spool adjusters, here's how the adjusters work. Use the two adjusters in tandem to get the spool centered. Tightening one and loosening the other will move the spool right or left, depending on which way you turn the adjusters. If the line piles up on one side, back off the adjuster on that side a little bit and tighten the other one the same amount so that the spool moves TOWARD the side of pile-up. In your case, it looks like the spool is well centered because line-lay is very even across the width of the spool, so there's no need to mess with that. Once the spool-centering is dialed in, use the only left adjuster for braking. Note that there's an adjustable gauge around that knob to help you visualize the brake setting. The knob position where there is zero braking will depend on where that knob ends up after spool centering, and that's why the braking scale can be rotated for proper calibration (so the "zero" position on the scale corresponds to a slack brake adjustment). When one adjuster is tightened, the spool axle gets squeezed between the two sides so there's no reason to use both adjusters. And those felt washers you speak of are simply oil reservoirs which hold on to excess oil that can ooze into the bearings as needed. They do not take part in braking wear.

I fish and hunt a lot, I love the ambassador reels but I prefer the 5500 and 6500c3 because of the size. I just subscribed because I love collecting all types of fishing reels and knives and also guns. A little of everything outdoors. Keep'em coming.

I'm new to fish, why is the Garcia installed instead of the bottom?, is it just your Rod?

With this kind reel it sits on top of rod. My video angle may be bad. The reel has to be on top because you have to use your thump to stop/slow down the spool before it hits the water so it doesn't bird nets.

@@tarickcruise3423 no problem, I really like the set up. The rod is catch the fever series big cat fever. Reel is Abu garcia 7000c3 catfish special, made in China. The ones made in Sweden are better built. Less plastic. Catch the fever has a new series called hellcat rods and they're worth the money. Plus if you catch a state record with a catch the fever rod you'll get 20k.

The retail price for this reel is WAY over priced for what it is. I've just ordered a 9.6 Whisker Seeker rod and rather than this $300 dollar reel, I'm going to slap on a Piscifun Salis X that only costs $95. If you got it for $160 you may have gotten a deal.

Where are you looking that its $300? The bait shop I purchased this from was selling it for $160 the internet had it for $140. I'd rather support a family business which is why I paid the $160
