I have a number of ambassadors and I have done exactly the same thing. It reduces friction tremendously. As a matter of fact, they become almost too fast. Great description

You've seen my hands shake ,lost me when the razor came out. LOL. Pretty informative though. I like seeing inside and how it works, nice reel.

I’ve had mine over a year now and the line retrieval is favoring one side. It seems to get stuck on the right side. Can you send a link to the parts and where you get them please? Great video btw.
@riverlunacy Жыл бұрын
Google Mikes Reels. He should have one and you could probably get a upgrade with a bearing on it which will help out some

Question where do you get that snap ring that you say can be lost easily
@riverlunacy Жыл бұрын
C-clip can be found on EBay or Erelpacement parts pretty easily

I found the ceramic paws in all different sizes for cheap do you know if they're all pretty much the same size from 6000 to 9000 or do I need to check them all? And I found them bearings really cheap if you want the info way cheaper than eBay
@riverlunacy3 ай бұрын
I believe they are the same size 6000 through 7000. Not sure about the other size. No, I’m fine on the bearings. A lot of times I buy them from a guy out of Germany and still have some of those. The seller I told you about those are really good bearings also. I have not changed any in many many years. if I clean a real, I just set the bearings and some lighter fluid while I’m doing the reels and then put them back in when I’m done
@brett77943 ай бұрын
@@riverlunacy okay awesome the lighter fluid and brake fluid doesn't mess up the rubber gasket shields? Good to know lol. I just took apart a bg 9000 today it was a bit different had a cover with four screws over the gears and no level wind factory made
@riverlunacy3 ай бұрын
@brett7794 I take the rubber shield off when I buy them, and then I spray carb cleaner through them, and then hit them with a Air compressor to clean them. The fluids probably would mess them up if you left them on.

Tip for you , if u dont want any residue to be on ur parts use Brake Cleaner
@riverlunacy2 жыл бұрын
Assume you’re talking about from getting oil on your pants while cleaning the reels?

What causes these things to start casting loud?
@riverlunacy Жыл бұрын
Usually the worm drive. Just put some real light oil on that and see if it helps. It could also be the bearings they put in them. Usually it’s the worm drive just needs a little strip of oil across it
@teamwampuskatoutdoors42752 жыл бұрын
Can u list a link on where to get all the parts and a list of what all I need to buy? Thanks in advance.
@riverlunacy2 жыл бұрын
Parts are a little difficult at the moment but you can get them from Mike’s reels, I usually get a worm gear from him with the bearing or Dads Ole Tackle might have one. Also I like to use HP bearings on eBay
@riverlunacy2 жыл бұрын
Been a while since I’ve worked on these but I do have a couple videos on them that tell you about the parts and I believe some of these videos also have the parts and possibly where I get them in the description

3x10x4 on the new7000 for one side can’t remember what the other side was, it was bigger. I was unhappy with the reels and sent them back. 6500 model takes 4x10x4. Any further questions please find me on Instagram it’s just easier to talk that way. I am more than happy to help
@riverlunacy3 жыл бұрын
6x12x4 on the right side of the 7000 series. This is the brand new reel just so you know. The model before this may take a different bearing I’m not 100% sure on that

Why were you unhappy with the reels?
@shockthesouth25233 ай бұрын
Do you upgrade them for other ppl?
@riverlunacy3 ай бұрын
I don’t really mess with it anymore because the parts have gone way up and then my cost included. It would be so much cheaper for you to do it yourself. These reels here aren’t reel easy to upgrade. Be careful opening them because they’ve got springs under the plate
@riverlunacy3 ай бұрын
Unfortunately, this reel has two different size bearings, which makes things more difficult. You can only find a single bearing worm drive for this, unless you have one custom built with two

What website sell the supertune kit for the 7000

Going to akios when I need a new reel. Don’t blame ya. The new reels aren’t the same as the nice Sweden builds
@Jessica373232 жыл бұрын
Abu not the company they used to be. I had some 6500 c3 and c4 I bought 25 years ago. They where awesome reels. I sold them. I shouldn't have. These reels are way under par. I have a akios, nice reel and the same man who developed the abu rocket, developed the akios and its $200 cheaper. That's why I went to Avet and Accurate reels, American made and well last way longer then any Abu.

Where can I find the parts to upgrade my 7000?
@riverlunacy2 жыл бұрын
The upgraded worm gear is a hard find. I would try Mike’s reels for that and then anything else you can get on eBay, I do recommend HP bearings for bearings or dads Ole Tackle has some real nice fast Sapporo hybrid ceramic bearings
@blackdeath50263 жыл бұрын
Since Abu is made in china now i really don't care for them, i own 25 or so older 6500c3's and about as many of the 7000c3's, the quality is very poor now
@riverlunacy3 жыл бұрын
It sure is. I ended up returning both of those 7000s. But I still love my old ones made from Sweden. Wish I had called the video shame on you Abu

So what's a better alternative guys.😔
@blackdeath50263 жыл бұрын
@@Ib90 The 5500 and the 6500 are still made in sweden and can handle the same size fish, you give up line amount, don't get me wrong if you find a chinese made reel and it works for you without incident then by all means use it, i do have cheaper reels that i go to more often that you might not even use, we all have our own use case so shop around till you find what makes your fishing better for your situation
