Mate, Z8 is INSANELY GOOD!!! If you can save up to that, it ticks all the boxes 😃 Z50 is a really awesome little camera. I love mine. If you shoot a lot of night scene/low lights though, then full frame will give you a cleaner shot. So aim for Z8 if you need the blazing fast speed, or otherwise Z5 is a great full frame to start with, if you're taking the next step 🙂

It is a cool piece of kit. The small size is not as important for me, since I own several large lenses. The killer features of the mirrorless system are around exposure preview and filming. My Nikon DSLRs are in that regard way behind. On the plus side for DLSRs are an extreme amount of cheap and high quality lenses, dual card slots and longer battery duration.

Great video .. I have had my USED Z50 for four months now .. I like it as a lightweight replacement for holding my D800 for 7-8 hours . Still getting used to it. For me the ONE MAJOR flaw I have with it is the Led Touch Screen. If you hold the camera to your face to use the viewfinder to shoot like the DSLRs , my face will bump against the LED view screen and activate the Zoom buttons they put on the screen instead of having it as a side button like every other Nikon. I wish they can be turn off its a pain sometimes but other than that it is a nice spare body to have in a studio or have it as a walk around camera .

Thanks a lot mate. Wow it's interesting to hear new experience from you. I've never thought of that zoom button thing, nor that I have had that experience. @RedImaginationbyGG2 жыл бұрын
Yep. You can make your F mount lenses work on the Nikon Z series camera by using the FTZ adapter. It works practically the same. The main difference being the size and F lenses make motor noise when tracking focus, but this doesn't impact the usability in any way. And the later only matter if you shoot video and need the audio from camera. Hope it helps :)

Hey, thanks for making this video. Its really helpful. I'm planning to take one in Jul '22 and I have just two concerns, 1. the Auto focus. They say that its not that great sometimes... and 2. I heard the rumors that Nikon Z50 II (next version) should be coming out soon..? thoughts?
@RedImaginationbyGG2 жыл бұрын
Hey no worries man. Here's my thoughts. 1. To me, the auto focus is really descent. For those who said it's not great, you need to ask and understand what the use case is. Generally speaking, all cameras regardless of the brand and model will find it harder to focus when there's not much contrast anyway. Eg, low light. To me, it's really descent and work well. I sometimes use it even for commercial shoot. I own a Z9 and Z6, but I often only bring the Z50 around because it's so compact and reliable. 2. Never heard of Z50 II yet. So I dunno. But the reality is there will ALWAYS be a newer model that will be 'better' is some aspect. The real question is 'do you really need all those new features?'. Just don't get caught up in the gear game. It's endless :) Hope it helps mate.

When we're talking about wedding, it's a 'once in a lifetime' moments. Once the moment's gone, it's gone. More risk management is required. I look beyond the picture quality and fps factors. Eg. Dual memory cards to lower the risk of losing images, larger full frame sensor for better low light performance and quality, faster camera focusing speed. I look at all of those factor when choosing the camera. The way I see it, I get paid to do weddings as a pro, I need to use the right tool that helps me minimising the risk and maximising the result. Hey thanks a lot mate. I reckon Nikon Z50's features are still going to be relevant for the next years to come. Would there be a better cameras? But whether you need the feature from the 'better' cameras is another thing 🙂 If i were you and I have the urge to create and learn, and this is my first camera, I won't wait. Coz the more I wait, the more I miss out on many opportunities to create 🙂 But if I already have a camera and only looking for an 'upgrade', then waiting for the next Z50 makes more sense to see if the new features would work for you. Hey thanks a lot mate. If you're looking at Nikon range, I'd say either Z6ii or Z9 will be the top options for video right now. If you're just starting out, the z50 can absolutely work as a starter. The slo-mo of 120fps combined with prime lenses with large aperture can make real cinematic footage. Just like the video sample shown in this video. The only thing you need to be more strategic is using the camera in low light situation, often during the reception. Be sure to have your extra LED lights instead of relying on the ambient lights. But trust me, it can work :)

Yes you will sacrifice that bokeh look, but the versatility is there especially for wedding. But if you can budget for 2 separate lenses, then yep getting the 50mm. You can either the f1.8, or Z MC f2.8 so that you can get macro shots of the rings. Whatever you're going with, i hope it works out the best for you mate :)

Hi Shashank, thanks for the kind words man. From amateur perspective, the quality is great and to me, this camera does a lot more than what most 'amateurs' need. I truly believe so. Interval time shooting, video capabilities, built in timelapse, just to name a few. In short, it is GREAT for amateurs.. I'm sure if you look after the camera, it would last you a long time. I have owned by far 10 Nikon cameras over the last 17 years, including film, DSLRs and mirrorless, only one has a fault on it. Hope it helps 😃

Thanks for this video! :) I'm a bit torn on D5600 and the z50. Up until now I have used a D3000 which doesn't even have a live view mode, thus I'm very used to using the viewfinder only. What is the mirrorrless' viewfinder like? Is the lag noticeable compared to a mirror?
@RedImaginationbyGG2 жыл бұрын
You're very welcomed mate. Transitioning from DSLR to mirrorless, you will notice the Electronic Viewfinder being different. The lag in Z50 and Z6 are slightly noticeable on a fast moving object. On the Z9, it is hardly noticeable. Looks pretty much realtime. Which I can that being adopted to future entry level DX & FX mirrorless in the future. I guess if you're torn between D5600 and Z50, it'd all comes down to what you shoot. If you shoot photos of fast moving objects, or often shoot in dim lights, i'd still suggest the D5600. But if you also shoot video, then definitely the Z50 coz the video features are waaaay better than the DSLRs. Hope it helps mate 🙂

@@RedImaginationbyGG Thanks for your kind reply! I'll try to see both cameras in person to see what's the viewfinder like, how do they handle in terms of size and weight. It'd mostly be for travelling and hiking around, so street photography, landscapes and maybe occasional portraits so I'd eventually pick up something like a 35mm lens along with the kit. Thanks for your input again! :)

@@Szili0 All good mate. Happy to share what I know. Might a bit late to respond sometimes. Just like right now. Lol.. For travelling and hiking, hands down I opt for mirrorless. Mainly because of the size and weight. Although the DSLRs will win in terms of the battery life. Z50 + Z 35mm f1.8 is definitely cute combo, give great quality and versatile enough for most photography scenario :)

@RedImaginationbyGG Жыл бұрын
Hello Joyjeet. Thanks for dropping by 🙂 Nikon Z50 is definitely suitable for street photography due to it's portability. I have more professional cameras but yet I choose to pick up my Z50 for street photography. As far as lenses, I alternate between the kit lens Z 16-50mm and Z 35mm f1.8 depending what look that I after. Z 16-50mm allows wider shot and deeper depth of field. Z 35mm gives a better compression, bokeh and starburst. Now that you ask this, I may make a video about street photography using my Nikon Z 50. Thanks mate 🙂

Yes, the Z50 is still damn relevant in 2023 even. I own this camera, I use it since 2021 and it is perfect for what I need: travel photography, enthusiastic. I take it everywhere I go. On the other hand, if we are talking about 'picture quality', be sure that if you have a 10-15 years old picture on your screen, well exposed and well edited in postprocessing, you can not say that it is so old. I searched a lot about this subject - picture quality is pretty much the same for all brands in the last 5 years (at least). No major improvements if you look at same line of camera (comparing apple with apple). So, yes, Z50 is still very strong in 2023

Z50 or z30 which is better
@RedImaginationbyGG Жыл бұрын
These 2 cameras have the same exact sensor, therefore same image quality. Which one is better is really depends on what you wanna use it for. In short, if you use it for photos, then I'd recommend Z50. For video, Z30.

hi sir, that gear is recommended for business photography? like event photography, group nor corporate and graduation picture? i already have d3500 and iwant to add another gear. and z50 is on my radar. i hope u help me to decide.hehe thanks a lot.
@RedImaginationbyGG Жыл бұрын
Hey man, the fact that you wanna learn about event/business photography, if you're adding another gear, I'd recommend to invest in lighting. Client doesn't care about what camera you use. They care only if you can make them looks good or not. Learn about flash, strobe, how to shape lights, and how to make your subject looks better. Nikon SB-600 or Godox AD100 is a good start for that. Upgrade from D3500 to Z50 is nice, but not too significant if you're only using it for photos. Hope it helps 🙂

Hey Ranjit, spot on mate! :) The kit lens 16-50mm would be suitable for street and landscape too. But if you're looking for other alternatives, you can either get the prime 28mm f2.8, or the new Z 18-140mm f3.5-6.3. The 18-140mm would be really versatile as it covers pretty wide focal length. Thanks for the great video! What do you think about if I put Z50 to my Nikon 200-500mm, I’m a sport photographer using Nikon D7200 now, does it make higher picture quality than Nikon D7200?
@RedImaginationbyGG2 жыл бұрын
Hey thanks man! I've never been personally used 200-500mm on the Z50. I should work seamlessly like other F ED lenses using FTZ adapter. As far as the image quality, the D7200 has better dynamic range. But in a glimpse, they're pretty similar. To your specific use case for sports, i'd rather you to stick the D7200 as you're very likely will have better focusing. I won't even worry about the image quality ay, both of them are gooood. What you really need is speed! Hope it helps man😃

Hi there, i want to buy my first camera and right now i am wondering whether i should buy the z50 or the z5. I want to use the camera for traveling, hiking and stuff like this. Is the better image quality worth the money or would you recommend the z50? Nice Video btw
@RedImaginationbyGG3 жыл бұрын
Hey thanks Lucas 🙂 I have used Z5 as well and I liked it. However as i do vlogs and video as well, I'd rather go with Z50. Z5 is a full frame which gives you cleaner images for night and astro photography. However the video feature is pretty limited. The 4K is cropped, which essentially the same as 4K on Z50. And it doesn't have Slo Mo 120fps option which is important for me. The Z50 is cropped sensor, however photo quality is still really good. It has better video feature and the screen flipped so you can see yourself. In a nutshell, go for Z5 if you focus more on photos, go for Z50 if you do photos and video. I hope it helps man 🙂
@p8ryot3 жыл бұрын
@@RedImaginationbyGG, I'll agree with you Red. Plus the Z5 is much heavier, If your main income is from Photography then full frame may be needed but for 99% of most shooting, the Z50 is great. Suggestion..Since Z50 doesn't have IBIS so other than the Kit len's try to buy either Nikon or aftermarket len's (Tamron) that have a Vibration reduction switch for your slow shutter speed needs.

Did not mention anything about battery life? Problems you might have with autofocus while shooting moving objects? If you used it for gigs or just private use and not even few cool pictures you took with the camera Its like you just read the brochure bro cmon
@RedImaginationbyGG2 жыл бұрын
Lemme ask you mate. Did you watch the video till the end? Coz I do have some ‘cool pictures’ right at the end bro cmon. Just like when we’re talking about anything, we can keep things short or we can tear everything apart and talk about in more details, but that will make this video a lot longer. I’m not sure if you’re interested in knowing more about the camera, or you had bad experience with this camera. But let’s assume you wanna know more and here’s my answers to your concerns. Battery life is pretty average like other mirrorless. How long one battery last really depends on so many factors. What brightness level you have, are constantly on LCD, do you shoot video, what frame rate and resolution you run for the video, so many factors. I generally use 1-2 battery per day for normal shooting/vlogging day. This is considered as entry level mirrorless. So just like other entry level mirrorless, autofocus while shooting moving object is not the greatest. But it can work well, and for the price point, it’s considerably good. You get what you paid for. And nope I don’t read the manual, nor the brochure. But … Even if I do read the brochure, that is completely okay and not something to look down on.
