Welcome back to another episode of After Work Sydney Eats & Talks Mukbang with Jeffles, where I will use my after-work time and show you all the cheap and good food spots around the city, and you will also have a glimpse on what life is like living here!
This time around I've tried out some of the best Indonesian food in Sydney CBD @ The Sambal. Highly recommend the chilli eggplants and the beef rendang, and would be perfect to top that off with some es cincau! Make sure to watch the full video for more ☺️

Mmm the Indonesian eggplants look amazing to me 😋 I’ve heard of beef rendang but I’ve never had it before. I’m sure it’s absolutely delicious. I love all kinds of curry! Awesome restaurant my friend. Everything looks amazing!!! ❤️😋😋👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

OMG that sticky looking eggplant 😍hahaha I'm just going to put a little bit of chilli he says whilst scooping a huge spoonful of chilli 😂 yikes so much heat! Sydney winter is nice, we love those days when its a bit cold but also so sunny ☀️can't wait for the next episode!

Haha yeah the eggplant was good! I think I really get used to the spices now so I will usually just scoop a spoonful as standard 😂😂 Sydney winter would remind me of European summer (Northern Europe I will say), and that’s the perfect weather that I would prefer - not too cold or too hot either!

Yeah I think Indonesian food has pretty unique flavours, but considering the variety of food that you’re having I’m sure you would enjoy it!

Great job! The food looked pretty good - and I always like it when food has a kick, but not enough to make you cry! Ah the weather. It's something we talk about like crazy here. Right now, eastern Canada is going through a major heatwave. It's been up around 30 for the last couple weeks. Typically we see 30 a couple times a year. I've never seen it like this here before. It can get a little much when you just have a fan. Most apartments and homes don't have a/c since it doesn't get this hot very often! I enjoy it though. I've been sitting out soaking up the sun as much as I can!

Hey Josh! I think the presentation of the food doesn’t justify its flavours but they were amazing! I’ve heard about this heatwave not just in Canada but in Europe as well, but yeah 30+ degrees is definitely the perfect time to hit the beach! Take these chances while you can before it gets freezing cold again haha.

Yeah man Sydney has definitely up its game in the past few years for sure! I'm really impressed with the flavours of the dishes so the lack of presentation is not a big deal for me haha :P

Yeah I will say they are pretty similar in terms of the spices and ingredients that they used, but somehow a bit different. Haha thanks for your kind words ☺️

That place looks good and cheap too! I've added it to my list, thanks Jeff :) Perth has great weather for at least 10 months of the year but August is the worst so I usually go away then. Unfortunately I haven't got around to it yet and right now I'm listening to the wind howling and the rain beating down ouside :/

Hey Lynne! Yeah the prices are pretty reasonable so definitely give that place a visit if you happen to be here! Ahh I feel you - that is a perfect night in to hide yourself in a blanket, get some takeaways and watch a Netflix show though, winter will be over soon :)

yes we heard about this place but havent tried it yet - generally when it comes to indonesian food we are super critical from freshness (well me and helmi are hehe), if that beef rendang is tender and breaks in your mouth generally thats a fresh dish - but try medan ciak next time

I can imagine! Yeah from my memory the beef was so tender (I’ve had some pretty dry beef rendang before and I can safely say this is not one of those), gotta get more tips from you guys when it comes to Indonesian food haha. What’s a medan ciak, would be pretty keen to try that out regardless 😌

Yeah there’s quite a number of Indonesians living here in Sydney so quite lucky to get a taste of everything 😁 haha i mean how often would you come across a KZbinr right? Lol. I prefer autumn as that’s when the weather gets a bit cold but wouldn’t be too hot! :D

Hahaha nah it wasn't him, but he always has very good suggestions! Yeah the eggplant was amazing, so well cooked with strong flavours - topped it up with the spicy kick that was one perfect dish!
