There are 2 types of martabak, the one with pancake and the thin one as known as the crispy one. I prefer my martabak manis (pancake type) with just butter or margarine we called in Indonesia and condensed milk. It's absolutely delicious and stunning. You can adjust the sweetness by leveling the amouthbof the condensed milk.

My favorite combination of martabak topping is: chocolate, cheese, peanut, sesame. If I want something less sweet, I'll remove the chocolate. Sesame is kinda optional, but I personally love it.

The Murtabak almost looked like an oversized crumpet.. Next time you're in Kingsford, go a bit closer to the city on the same side as Ayam Goreng 99 and go to wewok. Used to be Kingsford Chinese but reopened under a different name. Salt & Pepper Squid, shantung chicken & steamed fish with ginger & shallot is my standard order. Its quite a bit more expensive than it used to be but this is my happy place. Visit every time i come over from Adelaide.

Go for Medanciak. They offer a delicious authentic indonesian food. Go for their nasi kapau too. Their head chef as known as Mr Harjo is so talented and he was my junior high teacher. Medan is located in north sumatra of sumatra island in indonesia and it offer the best and well known indonesia chinese cuisine. You got to try it, because they also offer the best dessert of indonesia. My minister and mayor have visited there too.

That's not murtabak! It's called a Min jiang kueh originally a chinese hokkien or fujian breakfast snack usually with crushed peanut fillings and a little sugar, but these days people also put chocolate sweet corn condensed milk or other types of sweet fillings you can find it all over malaysia and singapore, real murtabak is southern indian flat bread with eggs diced onions meat fillings and pan fried with oil till bread is crispy. but aud18 for a nasi goreng wow that's expensive. In SG or Malaysia you only pay a third of that, but in indonesia you only pay a further third of that again LOL! I guess every place is different.

Its MARTABAK not MURTABAK. Two diff things. There' also MARTABAK TELOR which more similar to Indian's Murtabak.
