Imagine being Asian the most racist people in the world. Then he wines about racism on the internet 😅. You can barely talk English so it's no surprise that you were teased.

Racism against Asians ( whether yellow or brown) in Australia is almost systemic. In America, you can see that the CEOs of Microsoft and Google are Asians. The Asians in Australia are viewed as second class citizens who serve food and do jobs the white people don’t want to do so many are encouraged to work hard and become doctors or lawyers. White people help white people and hire other white people. The Asian businesses only hire those from the same language and culture as well. It seems like a divided society. I think having wealth protects you from some form of racism.

Get over it mate, there are worse things Asian people have done to each other. Jokes are not racist. Only real a racist would get offended by jokes. You should be grateful you don't live in North Korea or Xinjiang, China.

Thank you so much for this supporting and heart-warming video! As a Chinese person working in UK, I used to think I'm the only one who consistently got feedback that I'm confrontational and aggressive. With more experiences, I've now become more neutral, only expressing thoughts which are acceptable and only showing positive emotions. At the end of the day, I still need to pay off my mortgage and just want to stay away from the workplace controversies. On the other hand, it also made me very suspicious of white people overall - even outside workplaces, it's less easier for me to trust them and open my heart to them.

Coming to aus I was working and I got on my knees to clean something and this aus manager was like get up you look like an Asian. Tbh I never bothered asians but for the last two years in melb they have been attacking me like they started spreading my personal information so idk maybe there is a fault on both sides.

That's affirmative action benefitting asians in the work place. We wont have that here in Australia. We hire based on merit. It takes leadership skills to be managers and executives. Asian have a follow the boss mentality. So no surprises there they have the least managers etc. You simply are not assertive enough like your white counterparts.

I'm a British-born Hong Konger, and yeah my ethnicity is Asian. I have experienced racism when I was living and studying in the UK. I lived in a council house area in Harlow, Essex when I was visitng my grandparents every year, I befriended the children from our next door family who sometimes pull pranks on me. The other children in this area rejected when I was trying to befriend with them, play with them or climb trees with them. I personally like making friends with westerners but some don't accept me. And from time to time we do get racist slurs from some anti-social kids/teenagers, or people shout out from their cars when they drove past me. Move onto my university years when I was in Surrey, I finally found a group of people who truly respected me, despite me being an Asian and the youngest in our class because I became one of the best students. But of course there were 2 or 4 of them being racist towards me out of the whole class of 30 people. One of them is a friend of mine from London, who is always being cocky and enjoyed mocking and talk many annoying racist jokes about me and challenged me about our Chinese culture. Another friend who is a Filipino girl also enjoyed mocking me with the London guy together. But I was not alone, my best friend who is a white British from Derbyshire also got mocked by them because of his Northern accent. But the London guy and Filipino girl never make racist jokes or mocking on a Japanese girl who is also a friend of mine. I was like, why me???

I completely agree with this video, and it's not the first time I've heard this. As a darker-skinned individual, I've experienced discrimination, often in subtle and systematic ways. I have many white friends who I consider family, and even they admit they'd hire a white person over someone of another ethnicity. Some of these friends have no qualifications but still make 100k a year in government jobs. It's frustrating because it's often about who you know, not what you know in Australia. Life is easier for those born in Australia compared to those with diverse ethnic backgrounds. I've faced racism during my high school years and can still sense it when I walk into certain stores. While I believe things are improving, systematic racism still exists in Australia. It's sad to say, but I would die for my white friends if there was ever a war, as there are good people among them who would look after me, but there are also those who are racist. If we work together, we can make things better. As we say let’s go you fucking sick cunts!

This is exactly why Hong Kong as it is now shouldn't exist . It should ne absorbed back into the rich 2000 year history and traditions that come from China . 5 years working at an Australian company as an associate without advancement opportunity, this Malaysian guy then moved to Singapore, quickly promoted as a manager and now a VP at JP Morgan. Same story, a Malaysian girl, 5 years working at an IT company in Australia without advancement opportunity, then moved to Singapore and now the head of IBM. The company that I worked before had this South African manager who did not even greet her Asian team members, when there was a managerial vacancy she chose a fellow South African staff who just joined the company for 6 months instead of another staff who had been in her team for 5 years. One of her former staff is now the CEO of an IT company in Australia earning much more than her. Talking about burning bridges.

As someone who's become quite well-read in anti-racism and racism in the context of Australia after the race reckoning in 2020. My view is that racism in Australia (like many settler colonies) strutural in nature, and deeply embedded in the psyche of many Australians (whether they think it is or not; white Australia's, and settler people of colour who may hold internalised forms of racism), and structrual in natutre. - At the more institutional level, non-white Australia's make up 5% of senior leadership positions in Australia, while making up almost 25% of the population. Our judiciary, public sector leaders, CEO's, and parliament are disproportionately white. - First Nations Australia's are the most proportionately incarcerated people in the world. There is discrimination in a wide number of areas like employment (i.e. whether you have a discernably 'non-white' name on a resume), and the deep unconsious, covert, and pervasive casual forms of racism (microaggressions) you hear in the workplace / and other public spaces. - As a racialised person in Australia, if you sound Anglo and / or have class privilege you might evade some of the more overt forms. of racism, but you'll certainly be not be immune. A final note. The worst thing about Australia is our lack of collective awareness about racial issues (i.e. compared to the UK, US, and Canada), and a deep reluctance as a nation to engage with issues of race in a nuanced way, so that we can move forward and become more anti-racist.

Good on you mate. Funny you said that the word Chinese has been abstrusely used, because while the Overseas Chinese population in Malaysia and Singapore do strongly identify with their cultural group (whether that is Hokkien, Teochew or Canto), but they still broadly refer themselves as Malaysian or Singaporean Chinese (華人) Nothing's wrong with being proud of your cultural group (hey I'm Canto too), but there's no need to get all offended when someone call you Chinese. You don't need to see that as an insult, it is just a general reference of people who can trace their roots from China and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that.

1:35 Really ? Good topic untill i heard this...I liked everything else. My observation : 1) Firstly they talk clear with whites and they rush up use heavy accent and clauses and phrases on purpose and then act like oh you don't know australian English. 2) They pick on slightest of you mistake you make and blow it out of proportion and make sure atleast 5 ppl talk about it. 3) The train you good and then expect you to work like a 20 yrs experienced idiot who still be in the entry level. while there would be other whites who would sit and vhat all day long. It's ok for them to do anything not for you. You would be taken on to task. 3) They make a mistake and when u are a team and blame you for not doing anything. 4) Give u a impossible task which is not possible to finish and ask you why you haven't done it yet. 5) They recruit crazy women who cannot talk sentences straight and make their racism into women centric protective measure. Ohh he is not respecting women when he is addressing. You have no idea how many women fall for this because they are in the weighing scale. 6) Tave a team of 12 athletes and compare you with hussain bolt and say snub because your not him. 7) a dumb white trash will be preferred to a smart asian when training for the next level irrespective of your talent. 8) They will thank you every single day for your fantastic work unfortunately you will never get the promotion. 9) A family man if not white aussie will never get his choice of things happen but white aussie will not work if he has a party. 10) You will never be in their circle. 11) I can give you 100 reasons....or excuse they think is fool proof but it shows their incapability actually perform anything individually.... The managent is super racist where. non white cannot be racist. Beware of back stabber phillippino.... anything for money and title postion and chair in a different level altogether. Every word you speak is their weapon against you.
