Final Take Off starts playing from the speakers right next to your ears, then the deep rumble and whine of the jet engine sound kicks in, the whole cabinet shakes, then tilts upwards, just unforgettable!!!

That opening track "Maximum Power" always got me pumped when ABII first hit Houston, TX arcades! That cool sound the game made as you inserted your quarters or tokens, and once you inserted enough for a game credit, the next thing you immediately heard is that that kickass drum-roll into that smooth, rockin' tune. I would always let that tune play out for half a minute before I pressed the start button! :)

I grew up in the northwest Houston suburbs. We had the cockpit style arcade cabinet of Afterburner at Aladdin's Castle at the Willowbrook Mall! Where did you play it?
Great childhood memories of sitting in the Afterburner II machine and hearing Maximum Power all around me in stereo - then lift off and the exciting Final Take Off as the game began. Nostalgia overload lol :) I was 9 years old. #Classicarcade

They had this game at the local Mazzio's pizza when I was a kid. Back in the corner of the game room. I'll never forget it. It was a certified quarter robber. They had the difficulty turned all the way up & a novice player was good for about 60 seconds of play time.

Final Take Off gives me goosebumps this was one of three arcade machines the local pub had back when i was 5-6 years old! The others was f**king Aero Fighters 2 and World Rally Championship! lol
Recuerdo una vez que estaba jugando y estaba el tema de after burner , estaba tan concentrado con la música ,cuando termine y volteé a mis espaldas estaban dos militares uno de ellos me dio los pulgares arriba

this was the game that made my hope to be a fighter jet pilot grew stronger, after I watched the original Top Gun movie. but eventually I became interested in arcade racing games instead of either a Navy or even Air Force aviator ! 😂
