I just found your channel last week and I have been watching as much as I can! I've never heard homemaking described as you have and you've completely changed my outlook. I've found my joy in keeping up with my house now. My husband has even commented on the change and told me I'm glowing now. I can't pinpoint the exact thing you said but I'm extremely grateful for your channel! Thank you!

Thank you so much for including the part about knowing your limits and recognising exhaustion. I have a disability that causes me to experience fatigue and I spend a lot of time in bed or on the sofa. I have trouble accepting that a picture-perfect home and three home-cooked meals a day are not my reality right now. I'm a perfectionist at heart and I struggle with hopelessness when I fail to meet my own high expectations. To hear someone I admire acknowledge that human beings get tired and need to rest (instead of just cutting out that part of the video to ) makes me feel far more at peace with my body and my situation and, in turn, more likely to put what energy I do have towards blessing my fiancé, myself and our little home. Thank you.

I'm so happy that was helpful! yes, we weren't created to not need rest. Even God rested, that should say something.

Hey Rose, I wonder if meal prepping at the times you feel more able might help on those other days as cooking for 1 hour on a Sunday and Wednesday will give you all your weeks meals and might be more manageable for you or the person doing the cooking, maybe sit and chat while they cook so it feels your involved. I have found it useful. I hope you don't mind me commenting :) I think a nice way to look at you resting is that you are resting to give your fiancee and yourself your best self later that day. You resting is loving you both. When i rest my loved ones feel relaxed themselves too. It allows them a time out from worrying about us. Xx

Beautiful video. May I suggest to rotate your towels by putting the freshly clean towels on the bottom. I do this with dishes,too. It's just something I do and may be something for you. My son is almost 4 months old and I still can't sleep when he sleeps. I returned to work but even during maternity leave I had no much anxious energy I couldn't sleep during the day. Keep up the inspiring work.
@TheLadyoftheHouse4 жыл бұрын
Yes, if you don’t use all your towels, rotating is important. I usually wash mine once a week and they are all used by then. I know, it can be so hard to sleep. I felt that was the time I could get everything done. I started using my wrap with my last and did everything with her up next to me, hands free. I guess that’s why she clings to me this day. It's so true that afternoons can feel a bit like a limbo time. Mornings are so clear and once it's dinner time, you know what to do, but afternoons can be unwieldy creatures. And I too struggle with 'to lunch or not to lunch', as I also eat breakfast rather late to extend my fast. For me, I do as you do, which is just listen to my body. Some days I am totally fine without it all together and other days I need a little snack. Also, I loved your point about the difference between laziness and exhaustion. It's so easy to just keep going because there is always more to do, but again, if you listen to your body, you probably need a rest in the afternoon. And if you don't, there just never will be a time to read that book or play piano or do our nails. You have to make the time. Thank you for this video Nikki. It's like you're in my head!

I think you’re speaking of the painting of the lady in the dress, I found that at HomeGoods a while ago. It spoke to my heart, especially because only part of her head was showing and I already used that look for my thumbnails. To me, it shows an elegance not often seen today in this selfie culture where people are really just looking at themselves in the camera. It has an extremely deep meaning to me that lead me to purchase it.

My only comment about children is to never expect them to be cookie-cutters of you or to expect absolute perfection out of them. Too many parents focus on the 'disappointments' and fail to see that these people, though they are your children, are independent beings who will grow into adults one day. They are not 'tools' to be disappointed in if they do not live up to your standards constantly. Just a thought, though I know that many parents will grumble about this. Beautiful video!
@TheLadyoftheHouse4 жыл бұрын
Of course, I appreciate your take on expectations. There may be a few who want a replica of themselves out there, but I believe most parents want what’s best for their children which is where I’m coming from, that place of obedience. It’s normal for children not to want to heed our guidance and obey our voice but it’s still something that must be learned. Without this simple step, they could never learn to love God and obey Him. This is why God instructs children to obey their parents. It’s not to create replicas of oneself, it’s so they may have a long and happy life.

Thank you! The kids stay busy by reading, cooking, playing games, coming up with things on their own to play but school will be starting in a couple of weeks and then they will have that. Sometimes they spend time with my in-laws and Ayla has been spending each day at my grandparents helping them. There is really only peace with the music over the actual daily things going on. That deeper peace will come and it's then we will wish back the chaos.

Hi Nikki. I’m wondering if your children use devices and how you manage them. Are you homeschooling at the moment or are the children at home due to the pandemic or was this filmed in the summertime? Also I was wondering do you do a capsule wardrobe for yourself and your children. I’m loving watching your beautiful videos again 😍
@TheLadyoftheHouse4 жыл бұрын
My kids use devices when they are schooling and also at the end of the day after they have showered and cleaned up their spaces. They are currently distance learning. I have my "Leading Lady Wardrobe" which consists of only dresses. I'm not sure if that would be considered a capsule wardrobe, it's just my wardrobe. I don't count items, I just want what I have to fit comfortably in my wardrobe and to love and use each item I have. The girls don't have a planned wardrobe. As I find items appropriate for them I add them. Dressing the girls is much harder, especially as they grow. I'm so happy you enjoy my videos!

Thank you Linda! He appears here and there but doesn't wish to be the subject and I respect that. That kitten was my mom's and he is staying with her while she takes care of my grandparents but I may be kitty-sitting soon ;)

@@TheLadyoftheHouse I understand your son's reticence about appearing "on camera." ~ Looking forward to seeing Kitty's next appearance. :-)

Its so nice to see how you two have kept the relationship fresh even after four kids. Loved Aria looking at the camera. Can you share where you got the two dining side chairs? We have a similar bench style table now and need chairs for parents on the sides.

That part is so important, especially since after the kids leave, we will still be here. I found those chairs from DownEast Home and Clothing.

Thank you so much! I record my voiceovers with the camera I use to film, I just put it in front of me and speak over it and then layer it over the video. If I sit on my bed, I find I get less of an echo.

I once mentioned I have a soft voice like you and have 3 kids. I lost the video about slips. I'll look around.

Hello Ms Nikki, I am enamored by your videos. I never knew I needed this type of nourishment, if you know what I mean, you are feeding a part of my soul that has been starving. Thank you! One thing that caught my eye was the kitchen 'towels' you rolled up and put in the drawer, do you have a source for those? I would greatly appreciate any input, my hope is that you didn't create those lovelies your gifted self. Thank you again!

I’m so happy to hear you enjoy these so much! I found a lot of those watercolor towels from HomeGoods and Ross.

They are by Kate Spade, I purchased mine through Poshmark. I don’t think they make them in the blush color anymore unfortunately but I continually search for blush ballet flats in case I find a style that speaks to me.

Just curious does your boy help in the kitchen too? I think it’s important to train our boys to help around the house too it makes them better partners and husbands in the future
@TheLadyoftheHouse4 жыл бұрын
Absolutely, it just wasn’t his day. His day is Monday and last night he made ribs with a brown sugar rub. He’s required to learn the same skills as the girls. I agree, it’s for himself and his future family or roommates.

Ah, native American flutes and then Ben Shapiro - my kind of lady. My Granddaughters look at me strangely when I play a native American cd. I want them to experience all types of music.

Yes, I have been exposed to so many genres growing up that it’s hard for me to decide what I like most. I want the same for mine as well.

Such a peaceful ambiance! One question, how do you manage to have such beautiful hands and nails when I noticed you do not wear gloves for gardening or washing the dishes? I wear both and my hands and nails still stuffer! 😩
@TheLadyoftheHouse4 жыл бұрын
Thank you Cristina! Sometimes I wear them and sometimes I don't which means they sometimes look and feel pretty bad. It may just be the lighting but I use lotion every day.
