Pain is well, we won’t describe that…today I’m exercising the right knee & watching all your videos on tea time, that’s what we call it in the Deep South. Iv traveled the UK and so enjoyed all of the formal and informal afternoon tea parties! Blessings 🌼

Oh Kevin! You've done it again! So many happy memories have been triggered by this video! I can't wait to try the recipe - it's a seriously grown up version of my reciept for madeleines. So much so that I feel I must refer to it as the latter. I had not realised that rose water could be used in the mixture. At this time of year I am so poignantly reminded of my mother's Christmas cookery, which included home made Turkish delight made with leaf gelatine; the pink flavoured with rose water and the white with lemon juice. Her unrivalled Christmas cake infused with sweet sherry (Harvey's Bristol Milk) and whisky was also mixed with rose water. Showing your silver tea strainer also brought back another Christmas memory. My mother like many women of her generation entertained her female friends* with afternoon tea and also had all the proper appertinences, sugar tongs, silver teapot, silver plated spirit kettle, etc. but lacked a decent tea strainer. I decided to buy her one for Christmas. I was shopping in the West End of London, and walking down Regent Street when I came upon Garrard's, the royal silversmith and jewellers. With all the innocence and bravado of youth, I sailed in to be met by the shop walker (a sort of major domo of the establishment,) attired in black coat and striped trousers, and was surrounded by displays of diamonds and emeralds. Having explained that I was looking for a silver-plated tea strainer I was ceremoniously conducted through various sections of diminishing grandeur until we reach a rather dingy little room where the least sophisticated items were on offer! The very thing I needed was produced and which I have today. I still laugh about this rather ludicrous transaction which, even in the late 1950s was rather "olde world". * Another note about old fashioned ladies' tea parties, my mother's grander visitors, while they took off their outer garments, always kept their hats on; I suppose to suggest that they recognised that one should not outstay one's welcome in view of the fact that the man of the house would be expected home fairly soon and expecting his dinner. How times have changed!

I'm so excited! This is a new video. I've finally caught up on all the old videos AND I LOVE THEM. Tea Time is important in our family in that my entire maternal side - now gone, of course - was British and then became naturalized Americans. But my Nana, who made Madelaines, never quite gave up her loyalty to the queen. In fact, when I was a little girl, Nana went back for Elizabeth's Coronation! Times have changed so much. So very much. But not tea time in the afternoon. Today, I will make pumpkin breads, per a plan, Next week, Madelaines. Thank you. And of course, HAPPY HOLIDAYS and a very blessed Christmas.

My favorite cookie and treat when I travel. Oddly, have never made these in my many years of baking. Looked at several recipes this year... but yours is absolutely wonderful and much better than what I've been buying. Will make them for Christmas and hope they come out as well as yours here. I love the rose water and glaze! Beautiful job, Kevin. Merry and blessed Christmas to you, Mr. Fox and all here! Thx for all your great work and the relaxation and good vibes and good I get from your channel. Peace and love 💕

Famous French author Marcel Proust made madeleine cakes even more famous in his 1913 novel Du Côté de chez Swann . Just a bite and he was instantly reminded of his aunt Léonie and all his childhood in a flashback, . Since, it has become a kind of proverb, and I'm sure everybody has got their own "madeleine", that is a perfume, or some food bringing back to them all their past memories or emotions. Sometimes, when I invite and there's a slight lull in conversation, asking : "What's your madeleine de Proust ?" immediately rekindles most interesting topics among guests. Culture and food, excellent combination.

Thank you for this delightful recipe. I was just telling my husband that I needed to come up with a treat to bring to our family gathering on Christmas eve. We all exchange gifts and each bring a finger food or treat to pass. We play games, like Pictionary, Christmas Bingo, or any game relating to the theme of Christmas. It is a lot of fun. I have always loved French pastries, cakes ect. The flavors and textures are so wonderful. I was trying to make a recipe the other day, that I had found online, but had to convert measurements to our measurements. It was not an easy thing to do, but with the help of a conversation chart online I managed. I love it when you give us both conversations for us here in the US and those in other countries. I hope your thanksgiving was wonderful. We sure have a lot to be thankful for. May your Christmas be blessed and may you be surrounded with the love of family and friends. Thank you again for this wonderful recipe,
