Hey. one of the best review I saw for Eluktronics Laptop in youtube. Thank you. I bought Max-17 9th gen CPU + 2070 maxq in March 2020 this year and top up to 1GB ssd and 64 ram myself. In general, I am very happy about the laptop especially the cooling. I am an architectural designer and do a lot of heavy modeling work and real time rendering. The boost model is helping although the fan noise is crazy. 2nd drawback is the keyboard. it is quite uncomfortable to type. However, I really like the slim black look and feel without the logo. That is the best for me.

Use the office mode, you won't see much of a slowdown and it's way quieter. yes the keyboard is not that good. I use my own Bluetooth keyboard and prefer not to use the laptop's one

Great review :) Super in depth, more info than i needed or could understand lol But i was thinking of this and the webcam placement is a deal breaker for me! I use it often and the mic and can't be bothered having a full set up that's not portable on a laptop. I also prefer something lighter than what i already own.

Hey dude, fellow sinkie here too. Made the purchase for this laptop too based on a couple hours of research. Really glad I made the right choice. Just a couple of questions. 1. How do i get to bios to undervolt -50? 2. Do i set fan speed to maximum on the bios? or is it just hitting the fan boost beside the power button? 3. According to 10:51, should i always run my games at office mode? Cheers man :)
@Anitomicals4 жыл бұрын
1) bios screen, spam DEL key during boot up. go to advanced menu. go down, find CORE VOLTAGE OFFSET. press the + button on your keyboard until the number is 50. next, go to OFFSET PREFIX. change it from a PLUS (+) to a MINUS (-). then go to exit, save changes and exit, and allow the computer to restart. 2) use the Control centre mentioed in the video. Only GAME and BEAST mode can set max fans. there is a button there to toggle max fans. 3) If you want your pc to remain relatively quiet while gaming then yes, do run it in office mode. Not much of a performance difference vs beast and game modes.

Damn this video is so good. Do you think the Vapor 17x 3070 RTX worth it now compare to other gaming laptop with the same price ?
@Anitomicals3 жыл бұрын
Yes, the new 17x improves on every aspect of the one mentioned in this video. better screen, better camera placement and the 3070 will be faster than the 2060. comparing this vs a big brand laptop like lenovo, for the same price, this will have a better build quality with the same specifications.

hey man great review .... u should try out control with rtx on and dlss 2.0 turned on. According to Jarrod this literally brings the fps up drastically to be on par with rtx turned off .
@Anitomicals4 жыл бұрын
Yes that was one of the things I did not test in this review, along with speaker quality. I mainly wanted to mention stuff other reviewers did not mention, and focus on aftershock's offerings. DLSS 2.0 sure is great, but not all games have it. I'll turn it on whenever there is the option.

hi! can i ask if it is possible to lower the power consumption of the RTX2060? especially since i may not need it?
@Anitomicals4 жыл бұрын
You can disable the 2060 in the bios if it is not needed. Or you can simply run the laptop on ECO mode to limit gpu power, but that will limit the CPU power as well so it's not recommended. It is not possible to lower gpu power only.

What an amazing review! I've had the 15x for almost a month now and am extremely happy with it. Quick question for anyone who knows; how to undervolt the 15x, and is it by the same amount of -50mV as suggested in the video for the 17x? I'm assuming the Bios is in the startup screen... But I am afraid of screwing things up before someone confirms ha! If anyone can point me in the right direction, thanks!
@Anitomicals4 жыл бұрын

The 15x is identical to the 17X. Hope this helps!

@@dennonclamp If your computer is getting random crashes, decrease the number to minus 45 and use it as normal. each time it crashes, reduce it by 5. keep doing it until it stops crashing. If it isnt crashing then good for you. the chances of it crashing at minus 50 is very low.

is the regular usage with 240 hz or 60 hz in the battery test ? + did you use the i-gpu only mode in bios ? +do you miss the mechanical keyboard ? how much it take to charge the battery from (0-10%) to ( 100%) ? Edit: forgot to say excellent review :)
@Anitomicals4 жыл бұрын
regular usage on 60hz. 240hz for day to day just drains battery even more. i did not run igpu only mode with bios, i used optimus, the MS hybrid option in bios. disabling the dedicated gpu gave me some issues and i had very short battery life. i don't like mechanical keyboards, prefer laptop ones, I type faster on those. I did not measure battery charge rate and time it takes. Can't possibly cover every small edge case of this laptop. so watch more reviews to get a full picture before making your purchase.

@Anitomicals4 жыл бұрын
It is worth to get faster ram. Try to get 2666mhz at least, 3200mhz would be the best, 55 dollars is worth the upgrade.

Excellent review. I'm curious about that dual-screen desktop "slabtop" you built a year or so ago. How it is holding up?
@Anitomicals4 жыл бұрын
I have sold everything in order to pay for this laptop. It was torn apart and sold on my local craigslist. mainly the 9900k, gtx1080, ram. I've made a huge mistake and loss from that project and honestly it was the realization that I could not make a high performance portable machine that is as versatile and portable as a laptop. The final nail in the coffin was when asus released the UX581 zenbook DUO, a dual screen in a laptop, which was infinitely better than what I could muster when working solo. I'll leave it to the professionals to build better laptops.

This was a very interesting review, thanks! I think I will buy this laptop as here in Europe it seems impossible to find a 17'' laptop with an AMD 4800H and an NVIDIA RTX2060 at the moment. I would have to wait untill November to get for example the TongFang GK7NR0R. Do you think I should wait untill November or is this Eluktronics max 17 nearly as good value for money? I would buy it from laptopparts4less.frl
@Anitomicals4 жыл бұрын
Now is not a good time to buy a gaming laptop. Please wait next year for intel's tiger lake H 8 core chips and nvidia 3000 series laptop chips to come to the market. Current laptop offerings are using refreshed old tech that have been repriced. AMD is also better as it is cheaper than intel and that's about it. If you are able to wait till june 2021, great. If you really need a laptop now then this one is fine.
